A brand logo is a sort of tool, used to convey the potential and foundation of a brand. It helps in distinguishing the brand name from the others at a glance. In technical terms, a combination of text and visual imagery which creates an impact is a logo.
Not necessarily but almost every logo has an ideology behind it which links it to the foundation thoughts of the brand.
Let’s take a sneak peek to know about some of them.
1. Louis Vuitton
First designed Louis Vuitton logo was based on a sub-trend within the Victorian Era called ‘Mon’.
It originated from Japan, and indicates style of design often representing high-status families and organisations.
Japan was viewed as an exotic land full of mysticism during the Victorian period.
Designing a logo with references from this international style imbued the brand identity of Louis Vuitton.
Nothing could justify the degree of elegance, mystery and prestige that the brand name carries.
Georges Vuitton helped pioneer the creation of the now iconic logo to help protect the company from rampant counterfeiting.
He created a logo with a unique look that was trademark-able and conveys the luxury very well.
2. Hermes
Original producers of harnesses and bridles for the carriages of noblemen which further expanded its offerings to include leather goods and handbags, then scarves and ties.
There logo features a Duc carriage with a horse which harkens back to the brand’s original core offerings. It is believed the designers turned to the French painter Alfred de Dreux (1810-1860) and his painting “Le Duc Attele, Groom a L’Attente” as their primary inspiration source.
Hermès won a packaging Oscar in 1994 for their unique boxes.
3. Rolex
The reason behind selecting this particular name for the brand is still conflicted.
They wanted a brand name that would be easy to read when the mark was displayed on their actual watches and when pronounced loud it sounded like a watch.
The crown in the logo relates to the company’s motto,
A Crown for Every Achievement”.
This symbol harkens back to its illustrious history of innovation, quality, and the long list of firsts in the world of watches.
The green and gold colour palette reinforces the ideas of wealth and prestige.
4.Omega
OMEGA ( Ω ) is the last letter in the Greek alphabet, which translates to ‘Great End’ or the ‘Ultimate accomplishment’.
Things took a turn for the better a few years down the road and the company was experiencing a massive shift, when its name was changed from La Generale Watch Co. to Omega.
Each piece curated by Omega not only associates luxury but greatness of design and creation as well.
The ones who know about the brand, know it for its durability and significance in short the elements of being called, ‘GREAT.’
5. Versace
In about two years of making the brand, the first logo was unveiled with the name of Gianni Versace. Later in 1933,Gianni said that he chose Medusa specifically because of the way that she made people fall hopelessly in love with her with no chance of ever going back, and he hoped that his company would have the same effect on the people who purchased Versace products.
Versace is a synonym of years of success, bright undertakings, and literally magic influence on fashion lovers. Very few are as good at enchanting people as Versace was.
6. Mercedes Benz
A silver circle with a ‘Three-Pointed Star’ in the centre is now recognised as the Mercedes-Benz logo.
The meaning of the logo is deep rooted in the family which has now become the representative of luxury and refinement.
The original Mercedes logo was a Gold Star, which evolved over the years.
The sons of Gottlieb Daimler remembered their father sending a postcard to their mother claiming that a three-pointed star that was used to mark out the location of his house would in time, bring prosperity to him by shining over his car factory.
7. Maserati
The Maserati car company's trident logo is based on Neptune Fountain found in Piazza Maggiore in Bologna. In 1920 at the suggestion of family friend Marquis Diego de Sterlich one of the Maserati brothers, artist Mario, used this symbol in the logo. The fact that Neptune represents strength and Vigor was deemed especially suitable for the sports car company;
Additionally the statue is a characteristic symbol of the company’s original home city.
8. Giorgio Armani
The Armani logo is quite catchy with a right faced eagle with stripes and ‘G’ and ‘A’ embedded which are the initials of Giorgio Armani.The real meaning is rather classical and it is nobility, while some also consider it to be a tribute to the USA as they are the biggest trading partners.
9. Burberry
The logo of Burberry embodies an equestrian holding a shield.
The equestrian in the logo is a symbol of purity, grandeur, excellence, and pride while the shield very well depicts protection.This logo design is considered one of the most iconic design of fashion industry.
10. Mustang
The logo of a this luxurious car brand detailed.Even though you might think of it as just a horse but it is much more than that.
The Horse is seen to be facing left and running, while the traditional way would have been the right side.
Left faced and running means the horse is free and is seen roaming around with a lot of passion and rage.
