An Evening to Remember: Obeetee Carpets Debuts Newest Collection With J.J. Valaya at its New Delhi Flagship

September 2022, India – As the fifth edition of OBEETEE'S Proud to be Indian Collection, OBEETEE Carpets debuted their brand-new flagship shop in New Delhi and showcased their amazing new collection with design queen JJ Valaya.

The objective of OBEETEE's Proud to be Indian project is to unite the visions of renowned Indian designers with the brand's unmatched workmanship. Following a series of collections with crown jewels of the Indian design world such as Shantanu & Nikhil, Abraham & Thakore, Raghavendra Rathore, and Tarun Tahiliani, this collection with JJ Valaya is one for the record books, and an exclusive preview of the collection was available at the launch event on September 2, 2022 in New Delhi.

The partnership between Obeetee Carpets and JJ Valaya is a special one, as it has produced two distinct yet beautiful creative narratives: a line of magnificent carpets inspired by The Jamawar Shawl and a series of candid fine art photographs capturing the splendour of the places where these carpets come to life, Mirzapur and Benares. Obeetee and JJ Valaya unveiled this photographic series in the shape of a coffee table book named "The Land of the Loom" at the launch event on September 2.

The new collection, suitably dubbed Kapurthala – from Kashmir to Marseilles, consists of fourteen distinct patterns of premium silk carpets conceived by JJ Valaya and crafted by Obeetee. The design ethos chronicles the path of the Jamawar or paisley from its beginnings in Kashmir to its European manifestation in Marseilles, France.

Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash performed a soulful set during the occasion, which was complemented by a unique feast designed by famous chef Tahir Sultan.
