Anavila has launched ÉTÉ, a summer collection that beautifully anchors itself in the purity of white and the romance of the rose motif, celebrating the enchanting fusion of Tamil and French cultures.
Culture is inherently dynamic, constantly shaped by the flow of ideas, designs, and aesthetics. ÉTÉ represents a thoughtful exploration of this creative interplay, capturing the essence of cultural fusion that surrounds us.
Inspired by the charming city of Pondicherry, where the fragrance of roses blends with French coffee, the collection evokes the area's unique lifestyle. Colonial architecture, breezy tapestries, and scenes of women engaged in conversation around verandas, all reflect a harmonious blend of French and Tamil influences—from floral laces to traditional recipes found in local boulangeries, and the distinct Franco-Tamil architecture.
Central to Eacute Eacute; is the rose motif, or 'fleur d'amour' the flower of love. Each rose is hand-painted before being meticulously carved into wooden blocks for printing, appearing across the collection in lush bouquets, elegant trellises, and detailed lattices. The craft of hand block printing is complemented by delicate appliqu eacute; and embroidery, adding intricate layers to each piece.
Colors drawn from the gardens of the Indo-French Riviera smoke blue, blush, soft yellow, and green meld with white to mimic the serene ambiance of a rosarium. The collection base fabrics of linen, khadi silk, and khadi serve as perfect canvases for hand-block printed saris and flowing kaftans, epitomizing effortless summer elegance.
Appliqué saris and jackets further elevate the collection, offering the ultimate expression of summer luxury.
ÉTÉ invites you to rediscover the joys of summer, wrapped in a blend of light, love, and cultural legacy.
