Audemars Piguet Unveils 41 mm Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph Created in Pure Black Ceramic

It is the first Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph from Audemars Piguet, and it is 41 millimetres in diameter.

The case and bezel are made of black ceramic, while the dial is made of pink gold to provide contrast. Each ceramic part is hand-polished and satin-brushed before assembly, creating the signature brushed and polished Audemars Piguet look with polished chamfers.

The black dial is decorated with a Grande Tapisserie design, and the corresponding counters are threaded in a delicate pink gold. The attached hour markers, Royal Oak hands, and Audemars Piguet logo are all rendered in pink gold for a striking visual contrast.

ROYAL OAK SELFWINDING CHRONOGRAPH "50TH ANNIVERSARY"

In honour of the 50th anniversary of the Royal Oak, a new Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph in black ceramic has been released with a dial that displays the collection's progressive design. To preserve the elegance of the clock, the craftsmen have balanced the size of the hands with the luminous facetted hour markers. We've updated our logo. The previously applied AP monogram and printed "AUDEMARS PIGUET" have been replaced with a gold Audemars Piguet signature with a distinctive topography located at 12 o'clock. The new Royal Oak "anniversary" versions have an embossed signature crafted from 24-karat gold. Each letter is attached to the dial by hand using legs barely perceptible to the naked eye and linkages about the size of a hair.

All three counters now have the same diameter because to the enlargement of the little seconds display, which also improves readability. There is a new trapezoidal openworked counterbalance for the centre sweep seconds hand.

The pins that formerly ran down the edges of the studs on the black ceramic bracelet are now hidden inside them.

CASE

Black ceramic case, glareproofed sapphire crystal and caseback, black ceramic pushpieces and screw-locked crown.

SIZE 41 mm

THICKNESS 12.4 mm

WATER RESISTANCE 50 m

A special "50 years" emblem and the Audemars Piguet trademark are carved into the blackened 22-carat gold of the new Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph's openworked oscillating weight. The watch is 41 millimetres in diameter. The swinging mass is now the same shade as the housing, so as to avoid any visual disconnect.

Each watch has the Manufacture's current generation self-winding Calibre 4401 chronograph movement. It has a column wheel and a flyback feature, and it is completely integrated. With the flyback feature, the timepiece may be stopped, reset, and started with a single button press. In conjunction with the clutch system mounted vertically, the column wheel performs its function.

When you start or stop the chronograph, the hands move in the appropriate direction. Each of the push-pieces has a silky texture when pressed. Each of the counter hands may be reset to zero in an instant thanks to the innovative zero resetting mechanism.
