Breguet New Marine 5557 Hora Mundi is an Incredible Luxury Timepiece To Explore The World

L'Abbaye Switzerland-based Breguet has reinvented the Hora Mundi model from the Marine collection with its instant-change dual-time display with memory function. After choosing the first city's time and date, the wearer just has to provide the second. The time and date are then calculated by the watch mechanism using a complex combination of cams, hammers, and an integrated differential.

The dial's gold base has hand-guilloché waves and an extra sapphire plate. The latter is comprised of metallized meridians and continents that have been given a horizontal satin brushing, with their coasts softly highlighted in metallic turquoise. An outer flange supports the dial's different parts.

The hours and minutes hands, as well as the hour markers, are coated with a luminous substance to provide visibility at night.

The Sun and Moon are hand-hammered at 4 o'clock to provide a very realistic appearance. While the sun is a brilliant rose gold, the moon is rhodium-plated and emanates an enigmatic grey glow. The date is shown via a 12 o'clock aperture, and an extra retrograde hand is cleverly positioned underneath the aperture dial, with a gently rounded "U-shaped" tip that encircles the current day's date.

Brouillage, a subtle finish, produces a matt but lustrous look. At 6 o'clock, the cities corresponding to the various time zones are marked. A metallized anchor visible above the window indicates the location of the current time you want to check.

The 43.9 mm-diameter casing is offered in white or rose gold and contains the Calibre 77F1 with a 4 Hz balance. This mechanical self-winding movement has a silicon escapement.

Calibre 77F1 incorporates patented extra modules for the dual time-zone mechanism, second time-zone display, programmable and reprogrammable mechanical memory wheel, and pointer-type day/night display.

Through the sapphire caseback, which is adorned with Côtes de Genève, guilloché, and snailed finishing, a portion of this movement with its 55-hour power reserve is visible.

The new Marine Hora Mundi is available in three strap options: leather, rubber, or a gold bracelet.

The Hora Mundi model from Breguet's Marine series is ideal for  gentlemen who wish to avoid the effort of finding a more beautiful globetrotting companion and are delighted with the knowledge that they are sporting a magnificent technological winner.
