British Businessman James Dyson Sells Most Expensive Penthouse in Singapore

Inventor of the Dyson Electronics empire, James Dyson and his wife are selling their three-storey luxury penthouse in Singapore at a record price after making the purchase just a year ago. Luxury real estate in Singapore has been affected due to the Covid Pandemic like all other places in the world.

The super luxury penthouse was bought in early June last year at a whooping price of £43.5 million but has been sold at a reported price of £34.5 million to Indonesian businessman Leo Koguan, founder and chairman of SHI International.

The Wallich Residence penthouse is perched on the top of 931ft Guoco Tower, which came to be known as Singapore’s tallest building post construction in 2016. The 99-year old leasehold property was purchased by the Dysons in June last year.

Formerly known as Tanjong Pagar Centre, the penthouse comes with luxurious five bedrooms, its own private swimming pool, jacuzzi, bar, a private garden and offers the most stunning view of the Singapore harbour and financial district.

The 21,000 square feet penthouse is the largest raised luxury apartment in Singapore with a rooftop swimming pool and cabana. It features fully marble floors with exquisite chandeliers, a grand vintage piano, a 600-bottle wine cellar and much more.

The listing mentions that the new owners will have full back-up from a team of top designers and architects to customize the space as per their needs.

The premium penthouse also grants complete access to the five-star Sofitel Singapore City Centre, which is located in the same building.

The British Billionaire also owns a £26 million luxury mansion in Singapore that sprawls across 15,000 square feet and has a landscape garden, an infinity swimming pool, tropical land and looks on to the Botanical Gardens, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. He plans to keep this property since the company intends on growing and expanding its research and development footprint in Singapore.

James Dyson sparked controversy early last year when he first announced to move his business headquarters to Singapore in January despite being a staunch Brexit advocate. He had also initiated plans to create an electric car in the city, which was soon scrapped because it was not found to be commercially viable.

It is not clear as to why the price of the luxury penthouse was dropped so much since the Dysons have declined any further comments on the family’s personal properties or future business plans, but have decided to maintain their other luxury mansion in the Asian city-state. Luxury homes in Singapore are some of the most expensive luxury real estate assets in Asia and also in the world.

The Dysons also own many other multi-million dollar luxury homes in England, France and New York.
