Luxury at The Cortland
Related Companies have recently launched the sales at The Cortland, a new 25-storied waterfront luxury condominium built by Robert A.M. Stern Architects (RAMSA) with interiors by Olson Kundig. The luxury tower, which is located at 555 West 22nd Street in Chelsea, has views of the Hudson River and about 20,000 square feet of amenity space. While the precise cost for all 144 loft-style houses has not been disclosed, a project representative stated two-bedroom units begin at slightly over $4 million and exceed $21 million for four bedrooms.
Brilliant Location
The Cortland's extraordinary position on Hudson River Park's 555 West 22nd Street provides a unique chance to enjoy views of both the park and the Hudson River. The project is the first cooperation between two prominent US design firms, fusing their separate architectural styles – RAMSA's limestone classicism and Olson Kundig's West Coast modernism – into one. The elaborate façade is made up of approximately one million hand-crafted and hand-laid bricks and has a combination of limestone, brick, and metal embellishments.
The Cortland is also Olson Kundig's first East Coast multi-unit interiors project.
The Cortland is a building for future generations, inspired by West Chelsea's historic architecture and rich industrial background. The Cortland is a one-of-a-kind partnership between two of the world's most renowned architectural firms, Robert A. M. Stern Architects and Olson Kundig.
High Ceilings
The Cortland's residences include high ceilings and multiple versatile rooms. Oak wood floors and floor-to-ceiling windows complement the open-plan living and dining rooms. Select apartments also have marble fireplaces built by Olson Kundig and outdoor patios.
The Cortland has an exclusive brick automobile court with a limestone archway leading to it. It is constructed of stone, metal, and wood and is manned 24 hours a day.
Attention to details
The elegant double-height lobby features Italian marble and paldao wood, as well as a custom Olson Kundig-designed kinetic wheel-operated fireplace with the Monumental Cloud Series Light Sculpture "Stratus" by German Sculptor Markus Haase, commissioned exclusively for The Cortland and featured in a solo exhibition at Design Miami Basel in Switzerland.
The event area is next to the lobby and has floor-to-ceiling windows and a bronze metal panelled fireplace. The multi-functional room, which includes a separate back-of-house catering kitchen, may be utilised to organise a party or event. Additionally, residents have access to a private rooftop terrace with numerous lounging and grilling spaces, a VR room equipped with the newest virtual reality material, and a screening room that doubles as a performance space.
Health & Fitness
A 11,200-square-foot health club with a 75-foot lap pool, a private wood-lined yoga and fitness studio, and a pilates studio are among the wellness amenities. Men's and women's infrared saunas and steam rooms, as well as a wood-lined treatment room, are included in the spa facilities. There is a certified "Harrow Court" squash court that may also be used for basketball, as well as a "Crow's Nest" lounge with a golf simulator and seating area with bar.
Additionally, the building includes a number of dedicated spaces for all ages, including "Sandbox Powered by Related," a STEAM-focused maker space where children can create, invent, and learn; a double-height "Beluga Pod" Children's Playroom, a vibrantly immersive two-level children's playroom; a game room with lounge seating and activities such as ping pong, foosball, and shuffleboard; and a leisure pool.
