After honouring the Tiger in 2022 with a limited edition of Grand Soir, Dior Timepieces now celebrates the Rabbit with an exquisite Dior Grand Soir Year of the Rabbit watch.
The Chinese New Year will begin on January 22, 2023.
Traditional watchmaking characteristics like as oscillating weights, bezels, calibres, and dials are included into the Dior Grand Soir watch collection.
The Year of the Rabbit watch displays a rabbit racing through a lyrical rendition of the iconic Dior toile de Jouy. Multiple layers of chopped and textured gold and mother-of-pearl were used to simulate plant parts.
This effect adds depth and brightness while transforming the blue aventurine into a starry night sky. The bezel of its dial is meticulously set with finely cut diamonds. The zodiac animal is accompanied by a flying dragonfly, which represents good fortune. In Chinese culture, the Rabbit represents longevity, tranquilly, and fortune.
The watch celebrating the Year of the Rabbit is released in a limited edition of 88 pieces, another symbol of good fortune, and joins the line of unique Dior Chinese New Year Timepieces alongside the Dior Grand Soir Year of the Tiger.
The Chinese New Year, also known as the Lunar New Year or Spring Festival, is the most important holiday in China and other East Asian countries.
According to history, the Chinese New Year began with an ancient battle against the Nian, a terrifying beast that arrived on the night of the Lunar New Year and devoured humans and livestock. To repel the monster, people displayed red paper, burned bamboo, lit candles, and wore red apparel. Additionally, the Lunar New Year marks the beginning of spring.
