The Meteor Mystique
Big Things Come in Small Packages - well the 80 Feet wonder yacht Meteor is surely one of the.
Project Meteor, a collaboration between Van der Valk — a Dutch shipyard renowned for its safe, luxurious, and economical motor yachts – and Boutique Yachts, raises the standard for small boats.
"Meteor is one of the most audacious manifestations of an exceptionally strong Van Der Valk, designed for individuals who dare to challenge convention,"says Yoeri Bijker, director of sales and marketing at Van der Valk.
Personalized Design
Project Meteor exemplifies this level of competence in action. The eye-catching, champagne-hued idea was initially created for an owner who wanted to rapidly drive his own boat to his weekend resort. Vripack responded with a whopping 41 knots. With a little child in tow, onboard safety was paramount. Vripack reacted with a stable superstructure that has dynamic lines and an abundance of internal space.
ComfortVripack designed the exterior of the vessel, which has two folding roofs, a walk-around deck, a foredeck lounge, and an aft swim platform. Since the owner required comfort and stability at high speeds, Vripack's design has retractable foils that deploy automatically at around 20 knots.
Movement Flow
On the interior, the new approach continues with an ergonomic layout that promotes movement. Satin and gloss finishes combine with gunmetal black diamond stitched leathers and blue velvet surfaces to create a textural contrast. The window frames are upholstered in an eggshell white fabric. Additionally, all materials are acquired environmentally and locally. In general, the idea addresses the rising desire for well-designed boats that allow owners to travel independently, with their family, and without fuss.
"While travelling at high speed, the boat may safely weave from left to right, but once at anchor, you can open the sides; there is a beach slope in the rear, and the whole boat opens out."
"There will always be a need for big exploratory boats. However, we find an equal number of owners who have had enough of large boat ownership. They are eager to downsize and spend more time with their family while gaining experience driving a day boat. Having an 80-foot fleet spread over the world is the boating equivalent of having a sports car at each house that you look forward to driving."

All in all, the package may be tiny, but the possibilities are limitless with Project Meteor.
