Sobhita Dhulipala and Ishaan Khattar ignited the catwalk with a collection inspired by the celestial geometry of the Autumnal Equinox.
At FDCI India Couture Week, Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna debuted their latest collection, titled "Equinox," with Sobhita Dhulipala and Ishaan Khattar as the show-stoppers.
Blending deep house and tabla rhythms, the original soundtrack set the tone for the programme. This atmosphere is heightened by a set design conceived by White Domers that includes reflective metal installations on a black mirror ramp.
The eclectic designer duo stated:
"Equinox combines faith and fable with architecture and craftsmanship to produce a collection that is equally balanced. The patterns of Equinox are derived from the mathematical plotting of the sun and earth's path, as well as their depiction on antiquated kaleidoscopic windows from Bombay to Manhattan. A significant portion of the collection is inspired by lengthy wintertime strolls during which ancient metal fences with trellis patterns were the only source of floral hope. India Couture Week is an ideal venue for debuting a collection of artistic and handcrafted elements."
The collection, designed by Daniel Franklin, features mesmerising patterns brought to life by luxurious, unlined fabrics and entrancing three-dimensional embroidery techniques. In keeping with the aesthetic of the collection, hair and makeup by Anu Kaushik feature elegant hair and eyes with embellishments.
This collection's craftsmanship stood out on the catwalk due to its depiction of body art, or tattoos, on sheer fabric. Metallic brocades, organic handwoven fabrics, and silk velvet were sculpted to the skin, while entrancing glass embroidery and metallic strands add depth and dimension.
Rohit + Rahul's 'Equinox' combines artistic precision in luxuriant fabrics with intricate craft technique to create garments that stimulate all the senses. Lastly, glitch effects expand on RGRK's vocabulary of ambiguous mathematical representations in order to confound traditional expectations and imbue the collection with a contemporary flavour. Every unexpected element in this collection challenges the limits of haute couture, resulting in a captivating and cutting-edge aesthetic.
The special evening featured the finest examples of contemporary art, fashion, and jewellery design.
Badalia Diamonds' Ishmita and Golu Badalia are looking forward to future collaborations with similarly-minded artists and mentioned the following:
"We are ecstatic to have partnered with Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna as their official jewellery partners for this magnificent and exquisite performance. Each of the designer duo's exceptional creations was complemented by our diamond jewelry's distinctive designs and craftsmanship."
This evening's highlights were the show-stopping performances.
Shobhita Dhulipala wore a mermaid skirt with a slit, along with an unusual blouse and a dupatta draped as a cape, to express her eccentric and contemporary personality. Ishaan Khattar wore a satin silk shawl and a navy tuxedo with embellishments.
The two brought high levels of vigour to a blazing ramp.
