Excalibur Dr Woo Monobalancier - The Cosmic Journey Like No Other

The constellations have once again aligned. Roger Dubuis and Dr. Woo continue their cosmic voyage of design in the outer regions of expressive watchmaking, where artistry and innovation have once again crossed celestial paths.

Like the immense space beyond our world, inspiration has been boundless, enabling the fusion of two traditional crafts into a single daring work of art.

The Excalibur Dr. Woo Monobalancer is introduced.A stellar intersection between Hyper HorologyTM and exquisite tattooing.

The mesmerising Excalibur Dr. Woo Monobalancier is the result of the ongoing cosmic partnership between oger Dubuis and Los Angeles's most in-demand tattoo artist, Dr. Woo. This new work is the result of the second devoted engagement between two visionaries, after the great success of their first collaboration on the 2021 release of the Monotourbillon.

Dr. Woo's return to the Manufacture, Roger Dubuis's creative epicentre, to pour his incomparable talent into the beautiful Excalibur Monobalancier is a really important event.

With a contemporary selection of materials and sleek, precise lines on the case and movement, the iconic Excalibur Monobalancier was reimagined in 2022 to serve as the perfect canvas for the Maison's partnership with the Urban Culture Tribe. The Excalibur Monobalancier is the pinnacle of artisanal and horological innovation, providing a stage for limitless invention.

Dr. Woo's creative process begins with the fascinating interaction of the sun, Earth, and moon, which is reflected in ceramic surfaces. This synchronised cosmic dance creates the conditions for a work of living art in which the passage of time takes on new meaning. The Excalibur Monobalancier surpasses its functional role as a timepiece thanks to the seamless integration of remarkable talent and watchmaking mastery.

The Excalibur Dr. Woo Monobalancier watch has a dial with an elaborate engraving of three heavenly bodies in motion. The PVD black brass plate at 10-11 o'clock displays the fiery revolution of the sun. With every motion of the wearer's wrist, the intricate pattern of lines, shapes, and dots on the plate creates a new and enthralling visual experience.
The Earth is shown between 4 and 5 o'clock, directly opposite the sun. Dr. Woo's careful craftsmanship adorns this spinning power source, which is invisibly attached to the watch's hands. With the passage of time, the Earth's disc makes a peaceful revolution every 6 hours and 40 minutes, or 3.6 rotations each day. Dr. Woo's complex decorations on this Earth part represent the beauty and harmony of our world, giving the clock an additional degree of significance.

The dial then shifts gently to the thin crescent moon at 8 o'clock, where the celestial tour continues. The delicate machinery that keep time ticking smoothly are revealed by the moon's tiny circles and lines, providing a look into their inner workings. Waning crescent moons are connected with insight and comprehension, therefore this little pinpoint of light has deep symbolic significance for the timepiece.

The caseback continues the cosmic motif with an intricate engraving of the sun, Earth, and moon next to Dr. Woo's famous name. This faithful reproduction celebrates the balance and proportion of the original watch's design and the artistry of its maker.
This extraordinary clock has a number of other symbols with deep significance. Dr. Woo's trademark spider appears between 2 and 3 o'clock, where it immediately draws the eye. This mysterious beast first appeared in the 2021 Edition and has now returned in a new version, this time intricately carved in black on a sapphire disc set within the watch's inside and positioned on the flange. The spider pattern, representing power and protection, adds a personal touch to each clock and develops a deep link between the artist and his work.

Deeper inspection reveals a sapphire disc adorned with gleaming engravings, the centrepiece of which is a recreated Roger Dubuis astral star in gold metallization. The finely carved 3D rocket ship, which originally took flight in the first Limited Edition watch, is now venturing into the uncharted galaxies encircling the sun, Earth, and moon, and this heavenly insignia represents its journey through the cosmos. The star's points neatly correspond with the pink gold-tone hour marks, and the conclusion of its course, speeding towards an unknown but bright future, is represented by the last beam at 9 o'clock. The future's possibilities are left open, inspiring excitement and curiosity.

Roger Dubuis's unrivalled skill is on full display in the magnificent Excalibur Dr. Woo Monobalancier watch, which is housed in a sleek black ceramic case. However, Roger Dubuis has shown courage by retaining its signature sharp case design and deftly handling the difficult material to fulfil its particular requirements, whereas most other watchmakers have adapted their ceramic cases to match the constraints of the material. Despite taking fifteen times as long as making a gold case, this method has several benefits for the user. Roger Dubuis' ceramic watches are the pinnacle of sturdiness and elegance thanks to their treatment, which renders them very scratch-resistant and guarantees that the ceramic will not tarnish with time.

The 42mm ceramic casing is embellished with intricately engraved symbols from Dr. Woo's symbolic language. The mysterious iconography, which encompasses the bezel and flange, ranges from sharp triangles that seem to rise from the depths to elegant circles that stand for the permanence of human relationships. This unique mix of geometric symbols, which are open to individual interpretation, captures the imagination and is also etched on the calfskin leather strap. The strap's adaptable quick-release technology allows users to easily replace it in a matter of seconds, giving their watch a bit of personal flare while encouraging creative expression.

The automated RD720SQ calibre, known for its remarkable performance, is at the heart of the Excalibur Dr. Woo Monobalancier. The sun theme subtly conceals the micro-rotor, which has been intelligently designed to reduce vibrations for a more consistent timekeeping experience. The extraordinary inertia of the balance wheel not only improves the watch's steadiness but also makes it more resistant to shocks. An astounding 72 hours of power reserve is guaranteed by the sophisticated mechanics of a silicon escapement wheel and silicon pallet stones, providing the user even more utility and comfort.

The watch is a modern masterpiece since it was meticulously made to the exacting standards required to earn the prestigious Poinçon de Genève label. The amazing degree of workmanship and love that goes into making this watch is evident in the painstaking hand-finishing of every single part.

The Excalibur Dr. Woo Monobalancier, of which there were only twenty-eight made, is now a highly prized collectible. Those who are lucky enough to get one will hold it in the highest regard because of its scarcity.
