Ferrari is an Italian luxury sports car manufacturer headquartered in Maranello, Italy.

There’s a saying, “The name is enough…!” When there are gossips about luxury car brands and latest trends in the automobile field then it is impossible that anyone will forget to mention about the car brand “Ferrari ''. The name Ferrari itself evokes a sense of respect as well thrill amongst luxury motor car enthusiasts. All across the world, Ferrari is widely known for its luxury car offerings, the technology it uses which comes with high end engine specifications as well as swanky breathtaking designs to go with them. This luxury car brand is epitome of innovation which works constantly in order to create more ways to upgrade its line of products. The brand name is huge and known by each and every car lover. Basically, it is renowned for its rich history of motor in the field of car racing. Ferrari is one of the biggest and earliest teams to compete in the famous Formula One car racing.

Ferrari was originally founded by Enzo Ferrari. You will be a little surprised to know that Ferrari was not initiated as a luxury car manufacturer. Enzo Ferrari had a desire to work with FIAT, but unfortunately, his application was rejected. Later, he took up a job as a race car driver for Alfa Romeo, post which he founded Scuderia Ferrari. This translates to the Ferrari Stable. It was a sporting society allowing its members to participate in the race. In 1929, Scuderia Ferrari was formed in Modena as its headquarters in Italy. Scuderia Ferrari fielded Alfa Romeo cars for car-racing. Nearly 70 years in the car business, in the year 2015, Ferrari completed an IPO on the New York Stock Exchange that valued the company at nearly $10 billion. Today, this luxury carmaker brand has one of the most appreciated and recognizable brands in the world; its logo "prancing horse" is synonymous with success, money and the high luxurious life. The 1984 288 GTO happens to be the foremost in the series of Ferrari supercars.

Ferrari was not always a global luxury label or a brand that's now being traded in New York. The company's starting days as a carmaker of racing automobiles were rather humble. It was more like it took an Italian-American racing star called Chinetti in order to begin the transformation into a generation of amazing supercars for the world's well heeled.

Founding of Ferrari

Well it is so true that great and good things take time…! The same thing happened with the brand Ferrari. In 1939, Enzo Ferrari left Alfa Romeo on the grounds. Enzo was planning for something bigger and he decided that, for at least four years, he would not use the Ferrari name in association with racing cars. So, Enzo founded Auto Avio Costruzioni who is actually the ancestor of Ferrari which manufactured machine tools and aircraft accessories. Eventually, it was a brand new start for a brand and factory rebuilt the first Ferrari car, powered by a V12 engine. The specialties of this automobile includes the black prancing horse logo which is now a symbol of Ferrari. It was definitely the debut of an amazing and mesmerizing machine.

2000-2010 - the decade of the brand

The new millennium rose showing up a spectacular sporting success for this ultimate luxury car brand. Ferrari was now on full go and came up with a series of impressive victories on American soil. This collection contained three 12 Hours of Sebring and one 24 Hours of Daytona. Though, it was in F1 that Maranello really dominated the action. Between the period of years 2000 and 2008, the Scuderia won a total of 13 World titles including six Drivers’ (five with Schumacher and one with Räikkönen) and seven Constructors’.

As the commercial point of view is taken into consideration, this decade was the period that brought the launch of many successful models of the likes of the Enzo Ferrari in 2002 and the F430 in 2004. All these launches encouraged the manufacturers more and more and this resulted in the official inauguration of the very first Ferrari Store in Maranello in 2002. This was followed by a string of openings in stores in Italy as well as abroad that would ultimately result in 30 more single-brand retail outlets across the world. These stores were situated mainly in Saint Petersburg, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, New York as well as in Miami.

Ferrari is one of those oldest brands in race car competitors in all the editions of Formula One car racing since the championship’s inception in 1950.  Scuderia Ferrari was associated with some of the greatest drivers including Niki Lauda, Michael Schumacher, Felipe Massa, Kimi Räikkönen, Rubens Barrichello and Fernando Alonso.

Ferrari during 2010-present

On October 21, 2015, Ferrari was up for sale in an initial public offering. It was publically listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE:RACE). Later on January 4, 2016 Ferrari was on the list of Borsa Italiana which resulted in Ferrari becoming an independent Company.

Today, as Ferrari is a global brand, it is easy to recognize the Ferrari by just a glance at the black prancing horse logo.  Ferrari has made its name and status by working hard over the years. Owning a Ferrari has become a symbol of luxury, status, wealth and the love for speed.

Enzo Ferrari and the brand Ferrari do have a lot of people behind it working hard and making this possible. The brand is definitely an inspiration to many rising talents across the world. There are many racing purists in the world who will always swear by the quality, luxury and design Ferrari provides. The current position of the brand is not hidden from anyone. It is doing the most successful business in the market. It was possible mostly due to the dedication of Enzo Ferrari and his vision to become a successful luxury car brand. This brand is truly an inspiration for many people out there. You can actually take lessons from the life of the founder and his passion for automobiles.
