This summer, in collaboration with UCCA, China's premier institution for contemporary art, and Shenzhen's very own Sea World Culture and Arts Center, the Four Seasons Hotel Shenzhen will become even more attuned to the youthful, vibrant atmosphere of its exciting city home. The cooperation commemorates the work of Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan, and includes a Cattelan-inspired Afternoon Tea and tickets to his most recent show. The hotel is situated in Futian, the primary business centre of Shenzhen.
The culinary team at Four Seasons Hotel Shenzhen, led by Executive Pastry Chef Mary Liu, has developed their own pieces of Cattelan-inspired art in the shape of a spectacular and experimental Maurizio Cattelan: Wish You Were Here Afternoon Tea. Daddy, Daddy (2008) – and the morello cherry cheesecake, with a dazzling golden frosting resembling the valuable metal-plated footwear in Cattelan's Untitled (2019). The banana chocolate cake and chestnut apricot cake with grey icing "tape" depict the infamous banana Catalan that was tied to a wall with duct tape at the Art Basel Miami Beach art festival. "Fruit symphony" is a spectacular study of shape and colour, consisting of red, yellow, and black berries, jellies, and molecular gastronomy, while the bamboo charcoal scone is a remarkable edible black block served with mascarpone cream and handmade passion fruit and mango jam.
Nicholas Liang, general manager of the Four Seasons Hotel Shenzhen, remarks, "We take great satisfaction in our trendy position in one of the most interesting sections of a global metropolis." This partnership exemplifies our dedication to providing our visitors with the finest experiences possible. We believe that art is an integral part of luxury, particularly in Shenzhen, the most youthful and vibrant city in China, and we're happy to bring the two together on such a huge scale."
Cattelan is recognised for his sharp observation of society and humorous study of human connections. He is considered "one of the most popular and controversial painters working today." Maurizio Cattelan's latest exhibition, Wish You Were Here, which opens this summer in Shenzhen, features more than 20 artworks – including sculptures, murals, site-specific installations, and a performance – that explore a wide range of thought-provoking themes, from the ways in which love, fate, and consumerism affect our lives to questions of identity and relationships. In addition to a themed room key card and an art-inspired gift, hotel guests will get an invitation to remain tuned for in-room demonstrations of creativity. Consult the Hotel staff to schedule a visit to Cattelan's innovative exhibition or hotel experience.

UCCA also maintains non-profit foundations registered by the Beijing Bureau of Civil Affairs and the Hong Kong government. UCCA's commercial endeavours consist of the retail platform UCCA Store, the children's education programme UCCA Kids, and the partnerships and projects under the UCCA Lab umbrella. The UCCA, which opened in 2007 and was revitalised in 2017 by a determined group of Chinese and foreign benefactors, aims to integrate China into the global conversation via contemporary art.
