Gahez, an Egyptian e-commerce business and B2B fashion platform, has secured USD 2 million in a pre-seed round of investment. Disruptech Ventures led the investment, which also included Egypt Ventures, Afropreneur Fund, and Tanmeyah. Additionally, some angel investors took part.
Gahez was introduced near the end of 2021, while the globe was recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, but was simultaneously combating the Omicron version. Gahez intends to use the proceeds from its latest funding round to expand its workforce and market to new consumer segments.
Gahez's mission is to streamline the retail-to-manufacturer process and accelerate the digital trade cycle. Additionally, Gahez offers merchants credit terms to facilitate the collection process, while utilising third-party aggregators to manage transactions with suppliers.
Wael Olama, co-founder and CEO of Gahez, asserted that Egypt's apparel market is worth USD 24 billion, implying an infinite market potential. Along with Egypt's approximately USD 2 billion in garment exports, the majority of which is destined for the US and EU markets, there is enormous potential for expansion in African markets, which can occur fast only via the digital world.
At the moment, Gahez collaborates with approximately 15,000 retailers and 142 manufacturers. Additionally, the firm added 4000 SKUs.
