Gucci Produces 'Kaguya by Gucci' to Celebrate 75 years of Bamboo Top-Handle Bags

Gucci has produced a short video named Kaguya by Gucci to commemorate the 75th anniversary of their bamboo top-handle bags.

The movie features Hikari Mitsushima, Aoi Yamada, and Eita Nagayama together with the Gucci Bamboo 1947 and Gucci Diana Beloved collections. It was inspired by the old Japanese tale "Taketori Monogatari" (Tale of the Bamboo Cutter).

Kaguya by Gucci, directed by Makoto Nagahisa, takes place in a Tokyo between reality and a dream. Japanese actress Hikari Mitsushima, model Aoi Yamada, and Japanese actor Eita Nagayama feature in a narrative that provides fresh light on the Gucci Bamboo 1947 and Gucci Diana Beloved collections while wearing pieces from the Gucci Love Parade collection. The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, also known as 'Taketori Monogatari,' was written by an unknown author in the late 9th or early 10th century and is one of the earliest extant fictional works.

The narrative opens on a night with a full moon, set to an original song created by Keiichiro Shibuya. Okina, a bamboo cutter in the original narrative portrayed by dancer and performer Aoi Yamada, finally reaches a bamboo grove where she encounters the heroine, Princess Kaguya portrayed by actress Hikaru Mitsushima, after traversing the streets of Tokyo. Two individuals left towards the neon lights of Tokyo. Mikado, the Emperor, portrayed by Eita Nagayama, falls instantly in love with Princess Kaguya and grabs her hand at a nightclub. However, Kaguya and Okina seek each other out once more in an attempt to reject their destiny, before the princess is drawn back to the moon by the dawn's magic-hour light.

The Gucci Bamboo 1947 and Gucci Diana handbags are shown in a contemporary Japanese environment. Both bags are a reiteration of lineage and the Creative Director's personal legacy within the Beloved lines of the House.
