Have money - Don't just buy a residence, buy an Island !!!!

Not long ago, Indians were used to read about famous Hollywood celebrities buying or selling exquisite and dream like Island Homes in the US or Caribbean. It was also not highly unusual to come across stories of some wealthy family splurging in an island home in Dubai.  Well, it was about time that these jaw dropping, awe inspiring, mind blowing dream homes made their niche in the Indian real estate landscape. Many ambitious Indian property developers are tapping into this very exclusive luxury category targeting the super-rich and globetrotting Indians that are looking beyond the “luxury” properties that are available in the market today. Environment concerns notwithstanding these zealous developers have already acquired picturesque islands in the best locations and are gearing up to construct island homes that will add the extra zing to the luxury tag taking it many notches higher indeed.
 
Indulge yourself in the backwaters and expansive lakes of Kerala while you are at home on your island or simply choose to enjoy  the gushing water sounds of the inviting rivers of Goa while you are at home in one of the most beautiful island homes there. Yes, these and a few such extremely rare and extraordinary charming luxury spots have been cherry picked by some of the biggest real estate developers in India to make the REAL luxury home in India.

The Bangalore based Ozone Group, backed by Urban Infrastructure Opportunities Fund, which is currently working on multiple projects in Karnataka is one such real estate player jumping into this high ticket and ultra-expensive luxury real estate game. It has recently finished the formalities of buying around One Hundred Fifty Six acres of prime and pristine land on Capao Island which is located along the mesmerizing Mandovi River in Goa. Apparently the group has spent almost half a dozen years to acquire this piece of land for around INR Two Hundred crores.

The Ozone Group is planning a very low-density, but highly exclusive and modern -luxury residential-cum-hospitality development for the really elite and exclusive class of rich Indians. The highlight of the project would be the fact that the real estate developer would use only five percent of the entire land parcel to build around almost hundred super branded villas that would be available for a lucky few at more than INR twenty crores.

Capao Island is spread over 180 acres, of which a small part will continue to be inhabited by locals. There will be a luxury resort hotel and a marina for residents to dock their yachts.

Similarly, two other big realty developers from the South- namely Brigade Enterprises and Nitesh Estates, have been actively pursuing island purchasing in the state of Kerala and are planning to develop the super luxury class of homes here.

Not many moons ago, Brigade Enterprises purchased a 16-acre island in Vaikom in the Kottayam district of Kerala. The exact development plans with regards to the construction of this property are still being discussed and formulated. It seems there would be a mix of high priced residential and a bit of commercial – a sport resort that would be developed by the property developer out here.

The other giant developer - Nitesh Estates has been busy in buying and acquiring prime land in one of Kerala's favorite tourist locations, Bolgatty Island. As most of the Kerala tourists know, this island is a stone’s throw away from Kochi and is a very beautiful and idyllic property indeed. Nitesh Estates is contemplating to build a resort and branded residences project which would be handled and managed by one of the prime hospitality chains of India so that the intrinsic value of this exclusive property is maintained and enhanced post development.

With so much activity going on towards this ultra-luxury-exclusive island homes category, it seems that the uber class high flying Indian would not have to wait too long for adding this aspirational trophy of a luxury island home to his already burgeoning list of life conquests.
