Nanushka is a Hungarian vegan leather brand that has become immensely popular in the recent times for its effortless style and chic designs, all while creating pieces that are made from sustainable leather and are decently priced, making it an affordable luxury brand.
These pieces are carefully designed to cater to a larger audience by using recyclable cashmere, satin tops and knit sweaters that appeal to both men and women.
In 2016, the brands shirt-style dresses became extremely popular and since then, Nanushka has gone on to create plenty of different styles, experimenting with different types of sustainable material and creating unique designs.
The brand was co-founded by Sandra Sandors and her fiancé Peter Baldastzi who set out to build a brand inspired by the imitation leather textile industry and were successfully able to manufacture designs initially at their neighborhood production house.
In a span of two years, the brand went from a $1 million company to a $28 million company due to immense popularity amongst masses. Even through the pandemic, the company has managed to see a 15% rise in sales amongst its competitors.
Nanushka recently revealed its third brick and mortar store in London, where Stella McCartney was previously located.
While looking over a construction site through zoom calls have been challenging, Baldastzi is extremely confident about the placement of this store and believes it will result in greater exposure for the brand.
The entire production of the brand was initially based in Hungary. While the Hungarian market was not quite fashion forward, shifting base to London has been one of the most progressive decisions for branding.
Through time, Sandor realized the importance of using the right fabrics. That is when she started looking at synthetic vegan fabric as a more moral option compared to using genuine leather.
Although vegan fabric has reduced t0 25% of the offering, today the brand has seen an increasing interest in using more renewable materials which are sustainable and environment friendly.
