“The two hardest things to say in life are hello for the first time and goodbye for the last.”
This quote from Moira Rogers captures the feeling one gets after receiving news about the 'LAST' V12 Vantage from Aston.
It is bittersweet but the British luxury car maker has gone out all the way to make it as sweet as possible.
Aston Martin, the British company, has revealed details about their last V12 Vantage, which will be the most powerful Vantage to date and will be restricted to only 333 units worldwide. And, as the carmaker has been hinting for months, the final version of the gas-powered grand tourer will also be the most powerful.
This is the last time Aston's 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 will be mated to the vehicle, and with 690bhp and 555lb ft of torque, the brand claims the sports car will be capable of 200mph and a 0-60mph sprint of 3.4 seconds.
The Powerful Engine
Any discussion of the final V12 Vantage must start with the engine compartment. There you'll discover the car's eponymous twin-turbo 5.2-liter V-12 engine, which is comparable to the one found in the DBS Superlegerra. Purists will be disappointed to learn that the rear axle is driven by an eight-speed automatic transmission rather than a manual, but the fact that the mill produces an impressive 690 horsepower and 555 ft lbs of twist should alleviate their concerns (it's not quite as powerful as the DBS Superlegerra, but it's close). However, the gearbox has been set specifically to "improve shift speeds and driver engagement." Additionally, the performance metrics are somewhat showy. According to Aston Martin, the automobile accelerates from zero to sixty miles per hour in 3.4 seconds and has a peak speed of 200 miles per hour.
What a Goodbye!!There are reports that this would be the last V-12-powered Aston Martin and surely the luxury car maker has created a super farwell to say the least.
Light on Weight
The V12 Vantage has also been slimmed down, and its power-to-weight ratio has increased to 385bhp per tonne – a 20% gain over the V8 Vantage. The majority of the weight savings are achieved by substituting lighter components and panels for heavier ones: the carbon fibre front bumper, for example, as well as the bonnet, front wings, sills, composite rear bumper, deck lid, and battery. A unique center-mounted twin-exit exhaust system constructed entirely of 1mm-thick stainless steel saves 7.2kg. The sports vehicle now weighs 3,957 pounds, thanks to a significant amount of carbon fibre, a smaller battery, and a redesigned center-mounted exhaust system. This results in a power-to-weight ratio of 385 horsepower per metric tonne, which is 20% more than the V8 Vantage's.
New Body
Due to the car's wider track, the V12 Vantage's body has been extensively altered as well. According to the company, the front bumper, fenders, and hood are now all composed of carbon fibre, while the rear decklid and bumper are constructed of a composite material. Additionally, it has a more dramatic aerodynamic package—new front splitter, rear wing, and diffuser—that can generate up to 450 pounds of downforce at maximum speeds. Finally, the vehicle is equipped with either standard or lightweight shiny black 21-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot 4S tyres.
Same beauty
Meanwhile, the inside seems to be unchanged. If you're trying to lose even more weight, you'll have the option of leather sport seats or lightweight bucket seats. Additionally, the marque's custom subsidiary, Q by Aston Martin, may be commissioned to create a genuinely one-of-a-kind interior.
Huge Demand
For anyone interested in purchasing one of the last V12 Vantage models, the order books have already closed due to tremendous demand for the 333 units planned for production. Production is expected to begin soon, with the first deliveries scheduled for spring/summer 2022.
