'Jingle & Mingle' at Crowne Plaza New Delhi Okhla's Customary Cake Mixing Ceremony

Crowne Plaza New Delhi Okhla celebrated the time-honored tradition of Cake Mixing Ceremony to kick off the Christmas celebrations.

The occasion also marked the debut of 'Soulful Suppers,' the musical nights at ChaoBella where guests may enjoy performances by prominent musicians from the Delhi scene. Winter being the ideal season for socialising, the tunes will enhance your romantic dates, barbecue nights with friends, wine dinners, and business gatherings.

Director of Food and Beverage Pradipt Sinha began the amazing Cake Mixing ritual by describing the tradition's legends and history. He said that the event signifies the beginning of the harvest season and Christmas celebrations.

"In the past, an abundance of dried fruits and nuts were collected in the fall and used to prepare traditional Christmas fruit desserts. They would keep the mixture in anticipation of another prosperous and fruitful year. Later, this ritual evolved into a family occasion when everyone gathered to soak the fresh fruits in wine or rum before drying and storing them,"
Pradipt Sinha said.

The most anticipated part of the evening has finally arrived: The Cake Mixing Ceremony.

The outside section of ChaoBella was decorated with dazzling lights, Santa's hut, and gleaming decorations to bring in the holiday atmosphere among the crisp fall air. In a boat-shaped cauldron was a dazzling collection of dried fruits, including cashews, prunes, pistachios, almonds, figs, apricots, raisins, nuts, black currants, etc. Hotel guests and staff members rolled up their sleeves and donned aprons in order to take part in a vigorous mixing of the dried fruits with spices and spirits. The event was made more enchanting by the live music, assortment of Christmas treats, Sangrias, and Mulled Wine.

After the ritual, the mixture was transferred to an airtight container to absorb the alcohol and spices. French Heart - the hotel's patisserie - will provide a variety of baked goods, including Plum Pudding, Plum Cake Dandee cake, Mince pie, Christollen, and Christmas cookies, made with the same recipe. In addition, guests will be able to personalise scrumptious Christmas hampers for giving and enjoyment.

Shuvendu Banerjee, general manager of the Crowne Plaza New Delhi Okhla, said,

"Although the cake-mixing ritual is a prelude to the holiday season, it has taken on a far greater significance in recent years. The ceremony's core also serves as a reminder of the cross-cultural influence of festivities. The celebrations are shrouded with aspirations and rebirth for a better future."
