The most notable property bought by the United States in 1929, on which the Washington House, the main residence of the US Consulate, was built. It is now the location of Lodha Altamount.

JRD Tata stayed in a 150-year-old cottage known as The Cairn.

The official residence of the Bombay Port Trust Chairman was completed in 1918 by the architect responsible for the Gateway of India, George Wittet.

Lodha Altamount is located at the road's highest vantage point. The place has a fascinating history. It was afterwards used as the U.S. Consulate on the same site as the former residence of the last monarch of Kashmir, Maharaja Hari Singh (named Washington House). The three-story Washington House occupied an area of roughly 2,702 square feet, or one acre.

Not only does Lodha Altamount stand out because of the site's history of nobility and power, but it also has an innovative contemporary architecture created by the renowned German-Iranian architect Hadi Teherani. The terrace provides panoramic views of the ocean, the historic Haji Ali mosque, the racecourse, the trendy neighbourhoods of Breach Candy, and the metropolis.
