VonMercier, a British company, has unveiled Arosa, a sporty amphibious vehicle dubbed the 'world's first luxury hovercraft.'
The Arosa, which is projected to cost at least USD100,000, is slated to enter the market in summer 2022. Customisations such as paintwork, upholstery, wood and carbon accent areas, as well as infotainment systems, will affect the pricing. The blueprint for the hovercraft was initially shown in 2014 as the 'Supercraft' and has since been improved and enhanced.
The hovercraft, which is made entirely of carbon fibre, has a sleek shape that resembles a hybrid between a Ferrari and a luxury speedboat. The two-seater has a lower hull and a top deck, which makes it easy to reach from a dock or while out on the water. VonMercier's futuristic appearance and electric performance will appeal to tech and auto fans, as well as boat enthusiasts.
The Arosa is powered entirely by electricity with the addition of a rechargeable petrol engine. The former is equipped with three electric motors totaling 88kW, allowing for power increases for "rapid acceleration and manoeuvring." Additionally, it offers a 90-minute battery life and a range of up to 72 kilometres between charges, making it a reasonably eco-friendly alternative.
Two rotors in the front of the Arosa serve as air cushions, allowing the vehicle to float seven inches above water or solid ground. VonMercier says that the hovercraft, which travels at a peak speed of roughly 60mph, is the fastest amphibious vehicle ever developed.
Significant Features of Arosa in a Nutshell:
Hovering Air Cushion
The Arosa sports hovercraft is an amphibious vehicle capable of traversing land, water, and any terrain in between. It does this by travelling on an air cushion and effectively flying directly above the surface. The air cushion is hung inside a flexible reinforced cloth skirt that compensates for terrain variations and provides clearance for obstructions.
Advanced Control System for Direction
The Arosa is the world's most maneuverable personal hovercraft. The revolutionary, innovative directional control system allows increased mobility in forward, lateral, and backward directions, allowing for effortless stop and go. Intuitive pilot inputs make hovercraft flying simple to learn and enjoy.
A Stylish yet Futuristic Design
The Arosa is the first fully contemporary hovercraft design due to its low profile hull, sharp front end, and strong side thrust intakes. Marine characteristics like as side decks and an open cockpit combine with automotive supercar influence to exemplify this luxury sports hovercraft's adaptability and utility. At a glance, Arosa seems to be poised for action.
Materials of Excellent Performance
The Arosa's state-of-the-art design is enhanced by high-end materials such as carbon fibre and metal alloys. Material selection is weighed against cost-cutting production practises. The Arosa sports hovercraft is built using automotive, marine, and aerospace manufacturing processes.
Two to Tango
Inside the open air cabin, tandem sport seating delivers a pleasant, balanced ride. Additional passenger space is available on the side decks. Lower hull decks facilitate boarding from the ocean, whereas top decks facilitate dock access. Side steps with recesses provide entry and departure from dry ground.Electric Energy SystemA high-voltage battery pack powers the powertrain's three separate electric motors. The motors allow for precise control of thrust and lift. The battery pack may provide power boosts to the motors for increased acceleration and maneuverability.
Additionally, the electric engine significantly minimises noise and pollution.
