Montblanc Launches Legends of Zodiac, a New Line of Limited Edition Pens Modeled After Eastern Mythical Dragons

The myths and stories that have shaped contemporary Eastern culture are the source of inspiration for Signs & Symbols line by Montblanc. Included are "A Journey Among Dragons," a collection that pays respect to the enormous abilities of mythological animals, and "The Legend of Zodiacs," a writing instrument inspired by the zodiac sign of the next year. Each year's edition is uniquely designed and hand-engraved from sterling silver to pay homage to the ancient symbols that inspired the pen.
Limited Run of 512 Copies of The Rabbit from the Zodiac Legend
On Sunday, January 22, 2023, the Chinese New Year will begin, ushering in the Year of the Rabbit. Zodiac Myth and Legend The rabbit is a sign of good fortune in the Chinese zodiac, and the number 8 is considered auspicious in many Asian cultures. This limited edition of 512 pieces (8x8x8) is a tribute to these two factors.
The pen is crafted out of Ag 925 sterling silver, and the cap is embellished with a hand-engraved rabbit that stands for activity. Next to the engraved rabbit is an osmanthus tree, which is said to indicate a prosperous professional future. The mountain in the backdrop is a metaphor for absolute safety, while the cabbage and radish that the rabbit eats are meant to represent prosperity. An intricately etched abstract design of 'lucky clouds,' representing good fortune and joy, is featured on the rose gold-coated barrel. The brilliant pearl that represents the Zodiac sign of the rabbit is nestled in the cone. This writing implement has a rabbit design carved onto the Au 750 pure rose gold nib. The cap's pearly peak has the Montblanc logo.
The Earthly Dragon: A Journey Among Dragons, Limited Edition 88
Within the East Asian cultural sphere, the dragon is one of the earliest and most significant legendary creatures. The Earthly Dragon is the most solitary. Li Long is a mysterious ghost who lives deep underneath the ground in locations yet mostly
unexplored.
The cap and barrel of the Earthly Dragon Limited Edition 88 are adorned with a green tsavorite garnet that represents the Earthly Dragon's () visible eye. As a relief on the handmade Ag 925 sterling silver cap, its artistically carved head exemplifies the concept of as "crystal mineral," while its body forms to the barrel as a beautiful etching studded with diamonds. The subtle colour progression of the lacquer on the barrel's exterior evokes the depths of the soil that serve as the Li Long spirit's abode. A green tsavorite garnet is mounted in the cone of the fittings, which are crafted from Au 750 pure gold. Since the eighth son of the dragon, Fu Xi, has always had a deep appreciation for literature, the handmade nib, which is made of Au 750 pure gold, features a delicate etching of a book. Black onyx surrounds a sapphire glass Montblanc insignia at the top of the cap.
The rounded dragon body of The Earthly Dragon Limited Edition 88 encases the cap and barrel made of Au 750 pure white gold. The Earthly Dragon is adorned all over with tsavorites garnets, Paraba tourmalines, green and blue sapphires, and tsavorites garnets for its eyes to represent the hues of its natural surroundings. The dragon's claw is composed of white jade, while its spine and head are covered in gold. Gentle engravings of waves, representing fruitful water, adorn both the top and barrel. Since Fu Xi, the eighth son of the dragon, is supposed to like books, the Au 750 pure gold nib is engraved with an open book, a symbol of wisdom and education, and set with a tsavorite garnet. The dragon's head is engraved on the au 750 solid gold headpiece. The Au 750 pure gold cone is accented with a green tsavorite, and the cap is finished with a Montblanc diamond.
