Monterey Car Week 2022 Will Unveil Bentley Mulliner Batur's Brand New Design Language For Bentley

(9 August 2022, Crewe) Bentley Mulliner, the world's most experienced coachbuilder, is linked with the workmanship of luxury coachbuilt grand tourers and represents the pinnacle of the Bentley brand. At this year's Monterey Car Week, Mulliner will unveil a magnificent new model, the Batur, after the immediate success of the Bacalar project.

The Bentley Mulliner Batur is so much more than the successor to Bacalar; it exposes a brand-new Bentley design language that highlights themes and shapes that will characterise Bentley's future lineup of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs).

Similar to the Bacalar, the Batur is named after Lake Batur, an 88-meter-deep, 16-square-kilometer crater lake in Kintamani, Bali, Indonesia.

The Bacalar is the ultimate manifestation of open-top, driver-centric grand touring. Bentley Mulliner's experienced artisans conceived, engineered, and manufactured a total of twelve of these unique beauties. The contemporary era's rarest two-door Bentley has dramatic, tapering rear cowls reminiscent of the Barchetta sports cars of the past.

The Bacalar embodies the sustainable, ethically sourced materials featured in the EXP 100 GT concept vehicle. These include paint utilising ash from rice husks, which is a sustainable technique to get a metallic appearance, natural British wool, and 5,000-year-old Riverwood derived from the historic Fenlands of East Anglia.

The Bacalar boasts an improved version of Bentley's unmatched 6.0-liter W12 TSI engine. The most sophisticated 12-cylinder engine in the world, it generates 659 PS (650 horsepower) and 900 Nm (667 lb-ft) of torque. While a sophisticated Active All-Wheel-Drive System alters the torque distribution between the front and back wheels. It enables the Bacalar to employ rear-wheel drive as often as possible during regular driving for maximum economy and dynamic performance. The Bacalar's powertrain is its beating heart, making it the world's most exclusive open-air, two-seat Grand Tourer.

The Bentley Mulliner Batur will be unveiled to the public during Monterey Car Week 2022 at 04:00 BST on Sunday, August 21st / 20:00 PST on Saturday, August 20th.
