MP-15 Takashi Murakami Tourbillon Only Watch
Only Watch and Hublot have established themselves as pioneers in the luxury watchmaking and philanthropy industries, respectively.
These organisations, founded in 2005 and 2009, respectively, have experienced accelerated growth while stretching boundaries and making significant contributions.
With the MP-15 Takashi Murakami Tourbillon Only Watch, the Swiss watchmaker will participate in the highly anticipated Only Watch auction in 2023.
The MP-15 Takashi Murakami Tourbillon Only Watch embodies both Hublot and Only Watch's philosophies. This exceptional timepiece not only exemplifies Hublot's mastery of fine watchmaking, but also pays homage to the charitable principles of Only Watch. Like a child's depiction of a blossom, the watch's central tourbillon serves as a metaphor for Haute Horlogerie's resurgence and represents optimism.
Takashi Murakami, a renowned Japanese artist renowned for his floral compositions, has become one of the world's most in-demand artists. Since 2020, Murakami has been a Friend of Hublot, and his artistic vision corresponds perfectly with Hublot's innovative approach. The collaboration between Takashi Murakami and Hublot has always produced limited-edition series, but the MP-15 Takashi Murakami Tourbillon Only Watch takes exclusivity to an entirely new level. This timepiece's exclusivity can be demonstrated by the fact that only one has ever been made.
Hublot accepted the challenge of integrating a central tourbillon into the MP-15 in response to Murakami's explicit request. This was a significant achievement for Hublot, as it was the company's first timepiece to feature a central tourbillon. The integration of this complex mechanism necessitated painstaking attention to detail to ensure that the aesthetic and technical components were harmonious.
The design of the MP-15 Takashi Murakami Tourbillon Only Watch is comprised of intricate elements that reflect Murakami's artistic style. The central floating tourbillon appears to be suspended in midair, with two hour and minute hands passing beneath its enclosure. The hands are accompanied by luminescent indicators inspired by the hues of the 2023 edition of Hublot for Only Watch. The watch features a two-barrel manual movement with an impressive 150-hour power reserve. Through the sapphire case rear, onlookers can appreciate the exquisitely affixed barrels.
The MP-15 displays Takashi Murakami's vibrant and colourful artistic expression in every detail. From the tourbillon to the petals, the watch exhibits Murakami's distinctive aesthetic. Twelve petals embellished with 444 jewels create an aesthetic reminiscent of a real flower. The bold use of colour adds vibrancy, while the gemstones' brilliance heightens the visual impact, resulting in an arresting Superflat Art wristwatch.
Under the sapphire crystal dome of the MP-15 Only Watch is a captivating laser engraving. This intricate detail depicts the essence of Murakami's creative universe by depicting a broad smile with two ebullient eyes. The watch's vitality pays homage to the childlike awe and inquisitiveness inherent in every individual.
In addition to its artistic and technical qualities, the MP-15 Takashi Murakami Tourbillon Only Watch provides its possessor with an additional treasure.
Takashi Murakami has contributed an original calligraphy work entitled "Time of Rainbow."
This calligraphy, inspired by the watch he designed with Hublot for Only Watch 2023, adds a personal flourish and serves as the ultimate gift for the lucky individual who acquires the timepiece.
