The design of Nemesis One, the super yacht was revealed in early August by the Founder and CEO of Nemesis Yachts, Richard Ruthenberg. Nemesis One is powered by a hydrogen electric battery and is 101 meters long with a carbon fiber composite hydrofoil catamaran.
Designed by multihull experts, VPLP Designs based in Paris, most of its structures are built using carbon fiber prepreg and solid carbon fiber, while others will be developed using Nomex honeycomb core as required.
The Nemesis One hull is built in three individual parts and requires a custom-built curing oven that is at 113 by 12 meters for curing. The only appropriate choice of material for the main hull is to use carbon fiber composites.
The reason being that all other potential materials can make the yacht heavy and might not be able to effectively withstand the tremendous force while flying on water. Gurit, Switzerland is the main material supplier for the yacht.
The idea was to design a super yacht that matched its performance level. For that the Nemesis One has an edgy and polygonal design that quite resembles a fighter jet or a sports car, making it look as efficient and speedy as it is.
The yacht has been installed with an autonomous computer controlled Oceanwing sail that has been developed by AYRO, France. It helps to automatically adjust the angle of attack while eliminating the need of manual sail trimming.
The furlable wing sail and reef are said to be 2.6 times more efficient than a conventional sail plan of a similar size range.
Apart from having 750 square meters of solar panels on board that generates 150 kilowatts of power to automatically recharge the yacht batteries, it also comes with equipped LiDar (laser radar) sensors to monitor and capture environmental and ocean conditions.
While the engineering and manufacturing of the Nemesis One is still being finalized, the company is working on two smaller versions of the yacht- Nemesis ZeroSix and Nemesis ZeroThree. This is surely a luxury yacht to behold.
