Four Seasons Resorts in Thailand offers unforgettable experiences that are both intimate and exotic. From the palm-fringed beaches of Koh Samui to the verdant rice terraces of Mae Rim, Chiang Mai, and beyond to the bamboo thickets of the Golden Triangle.
Four Seasons Resorts Thailand offers every conceivable tropical setting.
"Thailand is one of the most popular wedding destinations in the world due to its accessibility, the natural hospitality of the Thai people, and - last but not least - its breathtaking natural beauty,"says Sean Mosher, general manager of Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai and Tented Camp Golden Triangle. Jasjit Assi, general manager of Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui, grins,
"When you add the Four Seasons' distinctive style and elegance to this, you have a match made in heaven."
This collection of resorts excels at boutique nuptials, with buy-out celebrations granting exclusive access to all venues on the premises. Koh Samui's private inlet can accommodate up to 80 guests for more intimate celebrations, while Mae Rim's expansive landscape can accommodate up to 120 guests for slightly larger events. The Golden Triangle Tented Camp is suitable for smaller, more intimate celebrations with a maximum of twenty guests.
Island festivities
Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui offers some of the most exotic island scenery in the world, with its pristine beaches and verdant tropical slopes that meander down to the ocean.
"We have something for everyone, from a bohemian vibe to a traditional Southern Thai celebration,"says Vallapha Srijame, manager of conference services and sales.
Spell of Love Beach Boho: This is a seashore wedding in the bohemian style, with pleasant, earth-toned decorations and a variety of aisle and arch designs.
"A complimentary couple's spa and an Once in a Blue Moon dining experience complete this celebration by the water,"she continues.
Look Phrao – Palm Inspired: The archetypal tropical paradise wedding, with guests exchanging vows beneath a canopy of coconut palms on the resort's pristine white-sand beach.Once in a Blue Moon: "With sand beneath your feet, in a private cove, at a table set for two – this is the ultimate way to say 'I do'!" exclaims Srijame. This intimate dinner for two concludes with a flower petal bath with candlelight at the villa, surrounded by tropical flowers and the ocean.
"In addition to Beach House, Pla Pla, CoCoRum, Koh Thai Kitchen, and Infinity Dining, we have a multitude of other fabulous venues that can be customised for your event,"she says with a grin.
Mae Rim magic
Chiang Mai, the cultural centre of Thailand, is a land of beautiful Buddhist temples and verdant rural landscapes. Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai provides picturesque backdrops for a unique, out-of-the-ordinary way to say "I do." to those who prefer a more immersive Thai-styled celebration.
"There is no need to stand on ceremony here; let the crisp mountain air and tranquilly of Thailand's cultural capital create the magic for you,"says Pimsupang Busapapong, manager of conference services and sales.
Truly Thai:
"Walk hand-in-hand through rice paddies to a private ceremony featuring a traditional nine-monk blessing ceremony led by a village elder,"she suggests.
This traditional Thai wedding ceremony, replete with wedding garlands and traditional clothing, can be performed at sunrise or sunset for the most dramatic effect.
Towards the Sunset:
Under a floral bridal arch by the pool, as the sun sets over the horizon, tropical flowers are used to decorate this evening wedding in a beautiful garden setting. Busapapong adds,
"Rejoice in the hues of gold and green as the sun performs its ceremonial dance across this celebration in the countryside."
Nature's Companion:
"We can combine eco-friendly themed décor with sustainable organic menus to create a wonderful green celebration in this enchanted tropical setting. Orchids of every hue and colour, tropical ferns, and other exotic plants are all you need for decoration!"she beams.
Milestones and jungle-scapes
If you are looking for a true retreat celebration, however, nothing could be more appropriate than the Tented Camp Golden Triangle. Deep in the bamboo rainforests, the Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle is a world removed from urban life.
"Set along a scenic stretch of the turbulent Ruak River as it flows towards the mighty Mekong, this is a wedding destination for those who seek adventure,"says Camp Manager Macall Newman.
Given the intimate character of this experience, there are a number of venues hidden away in the jungle for intimate exchanges of long-term commitments.
"Sunset nuptials are my preference,"grins Macall.
"A safari-style rendezvous can be entertaining, as the Camp's Land Rover escorts the betrothed to the Camp's highest point, where the bride is waiting. The betrothed may begin the festivities with a traditional Kaan Maak procession, in which he dances his way to his adored while musicians play traditional long drums. This is followed by the weaving of the sacred thread, Sai Mongokol, and the Bai Sri Su Kwan, a traditional Thai water benediction ceremony."
The Camp's devoted team of specialists can tailor an entire day's experience for the couple, beginning with a signature breakfast and ending with a romantic wellness session at the tree-lined open-air spa.
"End the night on an auspicious note by lighting the beautiful khom loy, traditional wish lanterns that rise up into the night sky with a trail of light!"Macall suggests.
