Porsche Debuted The Next Iteration of Vision Gran Turismo at Cologne's Gamescom

Starting on August 24, 2022, Cologne played host to Gamescom, the biggest video gaming trade show in the world. Not only that, but Porsche made its first appearance. The gaming relationship between the luxury carmaker and the international sportswear giant Puma will be the highlight of an exclusive contemporary lounge designed for the occasion.

The show's highlight was the Porsche Vision Gran Turismo concept vehicle, which underwent a series of transformations while street artist Vexx painted it in real time. This is the first time Porsche has created a concept automobile with the intention of including it in a video game. It debuted to the public in November 2021, and from March 2022, gamers on PlayStation 4 and 5 have had access to the car in the latest Gran Turismo 7 game. Vexx, a visual artist based in Belgium, is a global phenomenon in the realm of youth culture and social media. He plans to share on social media his progress in recreating the Porsche Vision Gran Turismo.

The gaming section at the Porsche and Puma booth was a hit with attendees, who got to try out Porsche racing simulations on virtual circuits. The Vexx-created Porsche Vision Gran Turismo was playable in the Gran Turismo 7 video game. In addition, information regarding the display car's development and design process was available to curious onlookers. Guests were encouraged to stay a while in a nook of the lounge. Also, Vexx showcased some of his most recent NFT creations.

To paraphrase Robert Ader, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of Porsche AG, "our presence at Gamescom confirms this," Porsche's dedication to the gaming and e-sports community has grown significantly over the last several years, and the company's presence at Gamescom demonstrates this. With the Vision Gran Turismo, we have made history by creating the first sports automobile designed specifically for use in virtual reality. Vexx will also give the car a fresh makeover by painting it. This is just another way that we can demonstrate our interest in forming fruitful partnerships with members of the creative community and the art world.

Artistically speaking, the chance to develop something fresh for Porsche was "a once in a lifetime opportunity," as Vexx puts it. The design incorporates elements from both the Porsche aesthetic and the world of video games. The ability for gamers to take virtual control of the vehicle is a huge step toward realising my vision of how my designs should be experienced.

Porsche and Puma displayed a Vexx-created clothing line at the booth beside the car. Among the many things in the collection were shoes, tees, and hoodies. The painted vehicle silhouette was featured prominently on several of the garments, along with other gaming symbols rendered in the artist's signature bright colour palette. Simultaneously, the Porsche Shop began selling a 1:18 scale replica of the updated "Porsche Vision Gran Turismo Vexx."
