Presenting the Latest Ferrari Purosangue

Lajatico, September 13, 2022 - Ferrari today introduced the Purosangue, the company's first four-door, four-seater automobile in its 75-year history, in the marvellously evocative settings of Lajatico's Teatro del Silenzio (Pisa).

2+2 automobiles (i.e., those with two front seats and two smaller rear seats) have played an important part in the brand's strategy from its inception. Numerous Ferraris have made the combination of benchmark performance and first-class comfort one of their success foundations. Now, as a result of seventy-five years of cutting-edge research, Ferrari has produced a car that is unparalleled on the global stage: not only do performance, driving pleasure, and comfort coexist in perfect harmony, but it also encapsulates the iconic DNA of the Prancing Horse in a way that is unparalleled. This is why the Italian word for 'thoroughbred', Purosangue, was adopted.

In order for the firm to meet the high aims set for this project and produce a vehicle worthy of a position in its lineup, a totally new layout and unique proportions were employed in comparison to current GT archetypes (so-called crossovers and SUVs). The average modern GT engine is mounted in the front of the vehicle, almost straddling the front axle, with the gearbox coupled directly to it; this results in a less-than-optimal weight distribution that falls short of the standards of excellence that Prancing Horse clients and enthusiasts have come to expect.

In contrast, the Purosangue features a mid-front-mounted engine with a rear-mounted transmission to produce a dynamic transaxle configuration. The Power Transfer Unit (PTU) is connected in front of the engine to create a special 4x4 gearbox. The ideal weight distribution for a mid-front-engined sports vehicle, according to the engineers at Maranello, is precisely 49:51 percent.

As a result of its performance and comfort, the Purosangue stands head and shoulders above the competition. It is the first vehicle with these dimensions to include a mid-front, naturally aspirated V12. Maranello's most renowned engine makes its debut in this brand-new configuration to ensure the vehicle produces the highest power in its sector (725 cv) and the most exciting Ferrari engine sound. In addition, it is capable of delivering 80% of its torque at low rpm for unparalleled driving enjoyment at all times.

The Purosangue's aerodynamic development centred on optimising the bodywork, underbody, and rear diffuser. New solutions include a synergy between the front bumper and wheelarch trim that creates an air curtain that aerodynamically seals the front wheels and prevents the generation of turbulent transverse air flows.

In addition, Ferrari has equipped the Purosangue with the most recent incarnations of the vehicle dynamic control systems it has launched on its most powerful and unique sports vehicles, such as independent four-wheel steering and ABS 'evo' with the 6-way Chassis Dynamic Sensor (6w-CDS). The international premiere of Ferrari's innovative dynamic suspension system. This efficiently regulates body roll in corners and the tyre contact patch over high-frequency bumps to provide the same performance and handling response as the brand's sports vehicles.

The brand-new chassis has a standard carbon-fibre roof to save weight and lower the vehicle's centre of gravity. Redesigning the bodyshell from scratch also allowed the designers to include rear-hinged back doors (welcome doors) to provide simpler entry and exit while keeping the vehicle as small as feasible. The interior contains four spacious heated electric seats that can accommodate four persons in comfort. The trunk is the biggest ever on a Ferrari, and the rear seats fold down to maximise cargo capacity. The Purosangue naturally has a more commanding driving position than other Ferraris, but the configuration is identical to that of any other Ferrari. As a consequence, the driving position remains close to the floor to provide a stronger connection with the vehicle's dynamic characteristics.

The Purosangue provides class-leading performance statistics (0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and 0 to 200 km/h in 10.6 seconds); the driving posture and the raucous, naturally-aspirated V12 soundscape provide a driving experience that is both wholly new and uniquely Ferrari. The Purosangue is the most comprehensive four-door, four-seater in its sector due to its extensive standard comfort-oriented content, such as the Burmester audio system, and its numerous available extras, such as the brand-new Alcantara® upholstery made from certified recycled polyester.

Summary:

The Purosangue, the first four-door four-seater from the Prancing Horse, was presented today.

The Purosangue is equipped with Maranello's renowned naturally aspirated V12 engine, which can generate 725 horsepower.

The Purosangue is a genuine Ferrari four-door sports car due to its vehicle characteristics, which are inspired by the Prancing Horse's most extreme sports vehicles.

The Purosangue's revolutionary design establishes a new benchmark in the automobile industry.
