Private jet firm Silver Jet calls their planes Covid Cleared to court affluent flyers

In a unique strategy, Private jet firm Silver Jet has labelled its planes as ‘Covid Cleared’ to attract affluent flyers who have been stressed flying during the pandemic

The virus-enforced shutdown owing to COVID-19 wrecked a havoc in the entire industry and the aviation industry is the most affected among all. Now as the lockdown is slowly being lifted worldwide, aviation industry is eager to prove itself as it begins to restart its operations.

Most airlines are not very optimistic about how quickly they will return to the sky, but the private aviation sector is eyeing an opportunity to increase their customer base as the wealthy flyers would be more inclined towards private jets rather than first-class seats.

As per a survey on high-end corporate flyers conducted by Thomas Cook India, 35 percent of their respondents preferred to increase their flying expenditure as safety is their first priority. Most industry CEOs believe in the fact that if this situation forces them to fly private, they will fly more frequently than they used to pre-pandemic.

Private jet firm, Silver Air has started their preparation for the day when travel will rebound, they have accordingly evolved their business strategy. They have developed a new service offering that will cater to the new needs of the customers, formed because of the pandemic. In this situation wealthy flyers seek additional peace of mind while flying and these customers form the target base of Silver Air. Silver Jet maintains 25 aircrafts and also manages Tony Robbins’ private Boeing 737.

CEO of Silver Air, Jason Middleton, recently announced their new offering known as “COVID-19 Cleared”. In this they have aligned all their efforts along with that of their vendors to ensure that all touchpoints along the entire flight journey are safe and that they have eliminated all  concerns about contacting the virus while flying.

As per Jason Middleton, “we really felt it’s very important for us to get very granular and create next-level best practices in terms of health and safety. The health side of this is always a concern but it has never been as acute as it is not”.

This is how they are working towards the achievement of their goal-

• A safe door-to-door environment will be created for the passengers and this will include a full cleaning of the entire interior and any vehicle for ground transportation. They will ensure that the flight is clear of any pathogen. There will be seven-page checklists of the cleaning solutions and equipment to be used for cleaning and what the cleaners will wear while cleaning.

• They have expanded their scope to include ground transportation vehicles for their passengers. This is vital to the health and safety of not only the passengers but also the crew members because any exposure to the virus can impact both.

• All passengers, pilots, cabin crew as well as drivers will be required to wear personal protective equipment.

• After the flight cleaning process is done, seals will be put on the aircrafts and that will be broken only after the passenger shall arrive to his destination. The seal will ensure that no unauthorized person as entered the flight or the vehicle to be used for ground transportation.

• A virtual health screening will be conducted for each person before they board the aircraft. They will be screed for COVID-19 symptoms, and they will be allowed onboard only after getting an approval for the medical professional.

• Silver Air is currently working in conjunction with Wyvern, a safety auditor for the private aviation sector, for adoption of best practices and sharing them with all players in the aviation industry.

Silver Air's Corporate Office is at 3760 State St. Suite 101, Santa Barbara, CA 93105
