Project 100 Coconut Tree - Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa Plants Seeds for a Sustainable Future

A Greener, More Serene Paradise in the Maldives

This month, Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa celebrates the completion of Project 100 Coconut Trees, an ambitious initiative that has brought new life to key areas of the resort with 100 freshly planted coconut trees. This project enhances the natural beauty of the resort while supporting the Four Seasons For Good program, dedicated to sustainability and environmental harmony.

Eco-Conscious Planting: Cultivating Both Beauty and Sustainability

The project introduced a diverse mix of coconut trees, including the vibrant Chowghat Orange Dwarf, resilient Malayan Green Dwarf, and high-yielding Gangabondam Hybrid. These trees now thrive across the resort at Sunset Beach, Sunrise Beach, Reef Island, The Island Spa, and staff areas. Each tree absorbs up to 25 kg of CO2 annually, contributing to a projected annual reduction of 2,500 kg of carbon emissions. Beyond their environmental benefits, these trees offer natural shade, a cooling effect, and added privacy, enriching the guest experience in harmony with nature.

A Message from the Resort’s Leadership

"Project 100 Coconut Trees exemplifies our commitment to nurturing both the environment and guest experience. These trees enhance the island's charm while affirming our dedication to a sustainable future." shares Didier Jardin, General Manager at Four Seasons Kuda Huraa.

A Holistic Commitment: Four Seasons For Good Initiatives

Project 100 Coconut Trees is part of the broader Four Seasons For Good initiative, which prioritizes environmental and community-focused projects. At Kuda Huraa, sustainability efforts include coral reef restoration, sea turtle rehabilitation, and a youth hospitality apprenticeship program for Maldivian students. The resort also nurtures onsite herb and vegetable gardens and maintains accountability through EarthCheck assessments, achieving the prestigious EarthCheck Silver award in 2024.

Elevating Eco-Conscious Luxury

Through Project 100 Coconut Trees and similar initiatives, Four Seasons Kuda Huraa continues to redefine luxury in the Maldives, where environmental stewardship and exceptional hospitality thrive hand in hand.
