Los Angeles, California – Riot Games and Tiffany & Co. announced a new multi-year worldwide relationship with League of Legends Esports (LoL Esports) today, making Tiffany & Co. the official designer of the League of Legends World Championship Trophy.
The pinnacle of this new cooperation, a makeover of The Summoner's Cup, which is presented yearly to the victor of 'Worlds,' will make its worldwide digital premiere on Monday, August 29 at 10:00 a.m. ET across Riot Games, LoL Esports, and Tiffany & Co. digital and social platforms.
The Summoner's Cup is a symbol of excellence in esports and the pinnacle of League of Legends, according to Naz Aletaha, global head of League of Legends esports for Riot Games. "The teams who hoist it signify the pinnacle of our sport, their expertise a permanent part of LoL Esports' history. There was only one partner we wanted to engage with on the Summoner's Cup as we sought to enhance the prestige of our World Championship victory. Tiffany & Co. is an illustrious company and the dominant creator of the world's most prestigious sports trophies. We're thrilled to join with them to recognise our past, current, and future World Champions."
Since 1860, Tiffany & Co. has fashioned by hand trophies that reflect the pinnacle of athletic performance in several professional sports, including football, basketball, and baseball. The Summoner's Cup for League of Legends Esports is currently displayed among other renowned sport championship trophies, like the LoL Pro League Silver Dragon Cup, which were both created and handmade by Tiffany & Co. Commemorating the tenth anniversary of LoL Esports in China, the Silver Dragon Cup included coveted artefacts from past LPL Legends as well as fragments of the original Silver Dragon Cup.
LoL Esports and Tiffany & Co. collaborated extensively on the construction of the new Summoner's Cup, which weighs 44 pounds and is around 27 inches in height. The contemporary design was brought to life over the course of four months and 277 hours by the House's skilled craftsmen, who create more than 65 trophies annually in their hollowware studio in Cumberland, Rhode Island. The most recent sterling silver masterpiece exemplifies Tiffany's historical tradition of remarkable workmanship by combining mid-19th-century tools and methods with cutting-edge advances.
"We are thrilled to extend our association with League of Legends Esports and to be a part of the brand progression of the world's most popular esport," said Alexandre Arnault, Executive Vice President, Product and Communication, Tiffany & Co. Tiffany's creation of the Summoner's Cup is another milestone in the company's 160-year history of handcrafting sports trophies.
The League of Legends World Championship will return to North America for the first time since 2016 and resume its multi-city tour after a two-year sabbatical. The tournament began in Mexico City with the Play-In stage from September 29 to October 4, followed by the Group (October 7–10; 13–16) and Quarterfinal (October 20–23) rounds in New York City.
