Summer Somewhere & A Commitment to Sustainability
Recycling
Their textile remnants are recycled or repurposed. At the present, they recycle just 40% of their textile waste and are committed to reach 75% by 2025.
Manufacturing on the Local Level
All of their clothing are handcrafted and created in Mumbai's two family-run workshops. They manufacture in small batches and do not believe in bulk manufacturing and are devoted to expanding and collaborating with the communities and craftspeople in their immediate vicinity.
Fabric & Components
They are conscientious about the garments they manufacture. All of their clothing are produced from high-quality, biodegradable eco-friendly textiles.
Linen is derived from flax, a plant that requires far less water and resources to cultivate than cotton. Flax is virtually completely waste-free.
Cotton waste from the post-industrial and post-consumer sectors is recycled to create recycled cotton. It is made from recycled materials and manufactured in compliance with the Global Recycled Standard (GRS). This cotton is not grown on new farms.
LENZING & ECOVERO is a low-impact viscose fabric. It is made with sustainably harvested wood and pulp from approved and regulated sources.
Organic cotton is grown without the use of genetically modified seeds or pesticides or other hazardous agents. Crop rotation is used to cultivate organic cotton.
Viscose is a man-made cellulosic fibre manufactured from sustainable plant-based wood pulp. Viscose degrades more rapidly than cotton.
Embroidery & Dyeing
They utilise AZO-free colours that are non-carcinogenic and have a minimal environmental effect. They print using digital technology and GOTS-certified inks. This procedure uses 70% less water, 50% less water, and has a 60% reduction in air pollution.
Packaging
Their courier boxes are manufactured entirely of recycled materials and are fully recyclable. Wrapping paper is acid-free and FSC certified, and is printed using soy-based inks. Their mailers/courier envelopes are made of recyclable materials.
