Swiss Design Company Kross Studio Launches BOBA FETT Luxury Watch Collector Set Inspired By The Iconic Star Wars Villain

Kross Studio's newest work with Lucasfilm was inspired by one of the most mysterious villains in the Star Wars Galaxy. 

All of the ten limited-edition sets include a numbered Boba Fett Tourbillon timepiece and a display inspired by the Boba Fett spaceship.

The Swiss design company is happy to announce a new limited edition of 10 Boba Fett-inspired collector sets, each of which includes a numbered, manually wound central Tourbillon timepiece inspired by Boba Fett and an EFX-inspired watch display inspired by Boba Fett's renowned spacecraft.

A chronometer befitting the galaxy's most infamous bounty hunter

The central tourbillon has become inextricably linked to Kross Studio. The mechanical intricacy is shown here in a 45mm grade 5 titanium casing with a chocolate PVD coating. Kross Studio engineers took the task to a new level by fabricating a small spacecraft on its landing platform above the tourbillon's cage.

Each small tourbillon cage depicting Boba Fett's firespray spacecraft is comprised of eight components and was built using CNC equipment at Kross Studio. Each piece has been painstakingly carved and hand painted to replicate the worn look of Boba Fett's spacecraft as seen in the Star Wars film saga's BespinTM at Cloud City. The amount of detail is astounding, and it exemplifies the particular savoir-faire preserved by Swiss craftspeople. Each of the 10 pieces based on the spacecraft took 90 hours to complete, and each one is unique.

Kross Studio used an innovative peripheral format to read the hours and minutes through a planetary gear mechanism that revolves 360 degrees around the tourbillon. A 12-factor gear ratio enables the planetary minutes system to drive the hourly progression. To maximise the efficiency of the movement, the hour and minute display systems are mounted on two very broad and high-precision ball bearings. The hour hand is inspired by Boba Fett's jetpack, while the minute hand is inspired by the bounty hunter's rocket, two famous equipment that he carries forever.

The simplicity and symmetry of the Boba Fett-inspired Tourbillon dial conceal the complexities of its 220-part manual-wound central tourbillon movement. Each of the 10 numbered clocks was created and built in Switzerland at the Kross Studio atelier.

Hidden Crown 

Due to Kross Studio's unique D-ring crown mechanism, which is concealed on the case rear, the case maintains perfect symmetry without a visible crown. The barrel's mainspring is wound by raising the D-ring on the case back and turning it like a key, which provides a more intuitive and efficient user experience than a typical crown. The timepiece has a five-day battery reserve. Time setting is similarly straightforward, and is accomplished by pushing the "Time Set" push button at 3 o'clock and concurrently rotating the case rear D-ring in either way.

Straps that are interchangeable

Cleverly concealed quick-release strap buttons on the underside of the case also contribute to the watch's clean lines, allowing for quick strap changes from the included green polyamide strap embossed with the pattern of Boba Fett's chest armour to either of the other included straps: the chocolate colour calf leather strap or the black rubber strap. Each included strap has been strengthened with a black rubber insert to increase durability and comfort.

A joint venture with EFX

Kross Studio collaborated with EFX to design 10 distinct watch displays for the Boba Fett collector set. 

The firm is renowned across the globe as an extraordinary creator of exceptionally high-quality "screen correct" limited edition prop replicas and collectibles from popular films, television shows, video games, and other forms of entertainment media.

It made perfect sense to draw inspiration from Boba Fett's legendary spacecraft and create a watch display capable of housing the Boba Fett Tourbillon while also serving as an art piece in the homes of a select few collectors.

Each EFX Boba Fett spacecraft watch display is scaled to match the filming model from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes BackTM. 

They are constructed with an aluminium and acrylic foundation and resin detail components. Each detail piece is cast separately from a master constructed from the same model kit components as the screen used prop and then meticulously polished and painted by hand. The components of the EFX Boba Fett's starship-inspired watch display were created after an in-depth examination of the screen-used artefact.

The starship-inspired timepiece is mounted on a platform simulating a spacecraft landing pad that was crafted in the Kross Studio ateliers from wood.

Boba Fett is meticulous in his attention to detail, which has solidified his legendary position among millions of Star Wars fans. Kross Studio embodies his unflinching pursuit of accuracy, and with each succeeding design, the brand cements its legendary standing in our galaxy. As was the case with the Death StarTM Ultimate Collector Set, this ten-piece set of Boba Fett Collector Sets will never be created again, adding to the pantheon of the galaxy's most sought-after Star Wars memorabilia.
