Swiss Luxury Brand Jaeger-Lecoultre's 'Walk Into The Dawn' Campaign Featuring Anya Taylor-Joy is Captivating

Walk into the Dawn - An Extraordinary Ode to Shooting Stars

The new 'Walk into the Dawn' commercial by Jaeger-LeCoultre features Anya Taylor-Joy in a surreal tribute to the Rendez-Vous Dazzling Shooting Star.

Walking into the dawn inspires the actions that get us closer to realising our aspirations - the dreams we could wish upon a shooting star.

In this intriguing new movie and collection of pictures, Anya conveys a tale without words via a dance routine that mirrors the trajectory of the shooting star over the dial of the watch.

Anya, who was trained as a ballerina and has danced in numerous of her film roles, such as in Last Night in Soho and The Queen's Gambit, is a natural dancer. Dancing is much more than a professional ability; it is an integral part of her life, she says: "The first thing I do every morning is dance, whether it's in my bedroom or kitchen. It lifts my spirits and energises me for the day. When I am dancing, I feel most alive to the possibilities of life.

This is suggested by "Walk into the Dawn." The fluidity and strength of Anya's motions match her personal style, which is elegant, smart, and flexible, much like the wristwatch she wears.

Anya asserts that the Rendez-Vous Dazzling Shooting Star is a little piece of art for the wrist. "The shooting star on the dial is wonderfully beautiful, and the shimmering blue dial and diamond circles make it very elegant; nonetheless, I view it as a watch that might be a true friend in my daily life, from dawn to night, counting out the beats of the day."

The Rendez-Vous Dazzling Shooting Star, introduced at Watches and Glories in 2022, was inspired by the wonders of the night sky. Inspired by the transitory allure of shooting stars, the watchmakers at Jaeger-LeCoultre decided to incorporate this uncommon celestial phenomena into a wristwatch. Utilizing their unrelenting devotion to invention – a trait shared by our brand ambassador in her acting career – they devised a brand-new mechanism that causes a star to shoot across the dial at random intervals, precisely as actual shooting stars flash across the skies. A brilliant blue aventurine dial is encircled by a ring of claw-set diamonds, which is the hallmark of the Rendez-Vous Dazzling collection.

About Anya Taylor-Joy

Anya Taylor-Joy was born in Miami in 1996 when her British-Argentine parents were visiting the city. She was reared in Buenos Aires and London, using Spanish as her native tongue. In 2015, for her breakthrough performance in Robert Egger's The Witch, a ballerina who trained till the age of 15 moved to acting and received acclaim. A string of highly lauded parts followed, including the film Last Night in Soho by Edgar Wright (in which she revealed a captivating singing voice).

The Netflix blockbuster The Queen's Gambit skyrocketed her career in 2020; her mesmerising depiction of chess prodigy Beth Harmon earned her a Golden Globe, a Screen Actors' Guild award, and a Critics' Choice award. This was followed by a leading part in The Northman by Robert Eggers. During 2022, Anya starred with Christian Bale and Margot Robbie in David O. Russell's Amsterdam and in Mark Mylod's comedy-horror The Menu, for which she received a Golden Globe nomination. Anya just wrapped production on Furiosa, the prequel to Mad Max, which is scheduled for release in May 2024.

About Rendez-Vous Shooting Star

The Rendez-Vous Shooting Star, introduced in 2022, accomplishes the remarkable achievement of encapsulating a random cosmic occurrence in a watchmaking complication. Inspired by the uniqueness and transitory beauty of shooting stars, the watchmakers of Jaeger-LeCoultre devised a novel mechanism, Calibre 734, that shoots a star across the dial of the watch at random intervals, several times every hour. The dial consists of three layers, the first of which covers the dormant shooting star. Underneath it is a circular disc with a cutout of the shooting star that, when triggered by wrist motions, streaks across the dial.

As the star moves past, the cutout exposes a bright golden metal disc that emphasises the impression of motion. This magnificent complexity lends itself to a variety of artistic interpretations, making it an excellent canvas for the Métiers Rares® atelier of the Manufacture.
