1. $75 million cake sets price record

A birthday cake loaded with diamonds and hand-sculpted fondant smashed the record for the most expensive dessert ever created. It was created by British designer Debbie Wingham, who has also crafted the world’s most expensive dress for $17.7 million.

A six-foot-long depiction of a runway fashion show weighing nearly 1,000 pounds, with more than 250 pounds of fondant and confectioneries. It was purchased by an unnamed buyer, from the United  Arab Emirates, for his daughter's joint birthday and engagement party. The cake has 4,000 diamonds including a 5.2-carat pink diamond, a 6.4-carat yellow diamond, and 15 white diamonds of five carats. All of the tiny edible figurines were hand-sculpted with Wingham’s couture clothing and accessories, including sunglasses and handbags. It took about 1100 hours to curate it with all the details.



2. World’s most expensive wedding cake for £32.4 million

Baker Tim Smith and wife Jules took things to a whole new level with this diamond-encrusted wedding cake - worth a heart-fluttering £32.4 million. They created the towering six-tier centerpiece for the 'National Gay Wedding Show' in Liverpool in 2013. It features 4,104 diamonds. It was made to create awareness and promote the event, which was to be held at the BT convention center.

“It took us five days to make it, although we did not get our hands on the diamonds until fairly late and we had to put them on carefully, one by one. Each one had its place and you have to make sure not to drop any," says the baker.

Arnaud’s in New Orleans creates impossible to forget visuals and one such is its valentines special.

This isn't just a dessert but a whole experience in itself.

Tinged with Ceylon cinnamon and Tahitian vanilla and coated with a ruby port sauce, sweet Louisiana-grown strawberries are served in a Champagne glass with a scoop of ice cream, whipped cream, and a whole strawberry. And there is an ultra-luxury version of the French 75 cocktail by Arnaud, made with Hennessy Paradis Cognac, Grand Marnier 100, Cristal Champagne, freshly squeezed lemon juice and edible 24 karat gold leaf flakes. And and and, it doesn't get over there. To make it the perfect proposal it comes with an engagement ring from MS Rau Antiques in the French Quarter, with a colossal 10.06-karat royal blue diamond.

I don't think anybody can say a no to a proposal like this!



4. Diamond Fruitcake -  US $1.72 million

What could possibly make a fruit cake worth so much? In this case, it was 223     diamonds studded in the cake.With diamonds weighing about 117 karats, this is the most expensive fruitcake in the world.Well, the diamonds aren't for consumption for obvious reasons but that is what makes it so special. This was created for the Takashimaya Department Store in Tokyo after 6 months of designing and 1 whole month of creation.



5. Platinum Wedding Cake - $130,000

This wedding cake is the work of the art of Nobue Ikara, who laced it with platinum jewels making it incredibly glamorous and expensive.This white cake is decked with platinum necklaces, pins, pendants, and, for good measure, edible platinum flakes. The creator dedicated the cake to several famous Japanese women like Rinko Kikuchi and Chie Kumazawa. .

He hoped to encourage more women to wear platinum jewellery.Edible platinum flakes made the price of this cake go higher that is covered in plain fondant and frosting.
