The American Dream
On 1 March 2022, the super limo arrived at a length of 30.54 metres (100 ft and 1.50 in), eclipsing the 1986 record by a little margin and entering the Guinness World Records.
History
According to Guinness World Records, the American Dream was initially constructed in 1986 in Burbank, California by renowned automotive customizer Jay Ohrberg. 'The American Dream' originally measured 18.28 metres (60 feet), rolled on 26 wheels, and was powered by a pair of V8 engines in the front and back.
Did you say LARGE?
Later, Ohrberg enlarged the limo to an incredible 30.5 metres (100 feet) in length after a few extra customizations.
To put its colossal size into perspective, the average automobile is between 12 and 16 feet in length (3.6 to 4.2 meters). For comparison, this vehicle measures the same as six Honda City cars, even after room has been saved.
Indeed, you could park 12 Smart Fortwo vehicles in a single file line and still have The American Dream longer than all of them.
Take the luxurious ride of your life time
The record-breaking car, based on the 1976 Cadillac Eldorado limousines, can be driven from both ends and also functions as a rigid vehicle.
The automobile was constructed in two parts, which were connected in the centre by a hinge for tight cornering.
Due to its colossal size and lavish features, passengers travelling in this gigantic automobile are truly riding in the ultimate lap of luxury.
Are you serious? A helipad in a car?
The American Dream contains material luxuries suitable for a king, including a king-sized waterbed, a swimming pool with a diving board, jacuzzi, and bathtub, a mini-golf course, and a helipad that can accommodate more than 75 people.
"The helipad is physically attached to the vehicle by steel brackets beneath and can support up to 5,000 pounds,"
said Michael Manning, who assisted with the restoration of The American Dream. As if it weren't remarkable enough, it's also equipped with several televisions, a refrigerator, and a telephone.
Golden years & a downfall
The automobile had several film appearances and was rented throughout its golden years. However, because to the high expense of upkeep and parking, people lost interest in it before allowing it to rust.
Back on its 'Feat' (pun intended)
The Manning took on the repair job after purchasing it on eBay.
According to Guinness World Records, the repair work cost $250,000 in shipping, materials, and labour and took three years to complete.
After selling the automobile on eBay, Michael Dezer, proprietor of the Dezerland Park Car Museum and Tourist Attractions in Orlando, Florida, purchased it in 2019.
As expected, the vehicle will not see the road and will instead be housed at the Dezerland Park Car Museum's collection of unusual and antique automobiles.
"You couldn't possibly put it on the road due to its length,"Manning said.
"It was constructed with the intention of being displayed."
In every sense of the cliché, the American Dream is unquestionably larger than life.
