The highly-anticipated DB12 from Aston Martin finally made its debut. Its sports prowess and explosive performance set a new standard. Not only does the newest member of the legendary DB family perform very well, but it also creates a whole new segment in the automobile market.
The DB12 breaks new ground by combining cutting-edge technology, luxurious appointments, and a thrilling driving experience. Defining opulence anew, it boldly proclaims itself to be the first Super Tourer in the world.
The Aston Martin DB12's superior performance and handling will satisfy and reward even the pickiest of drivers. Its cutting-edge 680PS/800NM V8 Twin-Turbo powerplant is perfectly linked to its painstakingly developed chassis, resulting in an unparalleled driving experience.
The DB12 has been fine-tuned in every way to maximise its performance and overall experience. This extraordinary car is built on a bedrock of precise engineering, from the increased structural stiffness to the fitted Michelin Pilot Sport 5 S tyres. Further enhancing the bond between driver and car is a brand-new suspension system equipped with state-of-the-art adjustable absorbers. Electronic Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) provides a thrilling ride because to its pinpoint accuracy and quick response time. The DB12's response is improved on the most demanding roads via the Electronic Rear Differential (E-Diff).
The DB12 has five different preset driving modes and an advanced Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system with six-axis inertia monitoring for grip prediction. This exceptional adaptability offers unwavering trust and safety by allowing gradual exploration of adhesion and traction limitations. When it comes down to it, no other mass-produced Aston Martin has focused so intently on breaking new ground in terms of dynamic performance.
The DB12 makes a bold statement with its assured performance. Its 3.5-second 0-60 mph pace, 202-mph top speed, and excellent 4.0 Twin-Turbo V8 engine set a new benchmark for the category. Aston Martin's engineers fine-tuned this hand-built motor to generate 680PS/671bhp at 6000rpm and 800Nm/590lb ft between 2750 and 6000 rpm, an increase of 34% over the DB11.
Several upgrades, including revised valve profiles, improved compression ratios, turbochargers with bigger diameters, and better cooling systems, have been introduced to enable these higher outputs. The radiator has been modified with two auxiliary radiators to properly satisfy the increasing thermal needs.
As an example, the auxiliary outboard engine oil cooler now has more than twice the surface area it had before, allowing for more efficient control of the lubrication circuit. A centrally-mounted set of bonnet vents above the twin turbos let hot air escape, further improving cooling efficiency, and the thermal ventilation has been improved by 56% to allow for a larger circulation of cold air into the radiators.
By equipping the DB12 with the all-new Michelin Pilot Sport 5 S tyres first, Aston Martin proves its dedication to giving a real Super Tourer experience. These specially designed, 'AML'-coded tyres have been tweaked by the Aston Martin dynamics team to deliver exceptional steering accuracy and excellent grip in wet and dry situations. The carcass of the Pilot Sport 5 tyres is outfitted with noise-cancelling polyurethane foam inserts to increase sophistication and comfort for the driver. This helps to make the cabin 20% quieter and the transmission 20% less noisy from tyres.
The DB12 comes standard with 21-inch forged alloy wheels in your choice of three finishes: gloss silver for the five-spoke, satin platinum for the multi-spoke, satin black for the multi-spoke, and satin black diamond turned for the Y-spoke. Using cutting-edge simulation methods, Aston Martin methodically refined the construction of these lightweight rims, reducing unnecessary weight. Because of this, the wheels are 8 kilogrammes lighter than the old 20-inch alternatives while still looking as good as they did before.
The design incorporates Aston Martin's signature style and 75 years of DB history, showcasing the vehicle's boldness, agility, and sophistication. The DB12's front end has been updated with a wider radiator aperture, reshaped splitter, and new LED headlights, giving it a more muscular look. The vehicle's wide-track stance is matched by the 21-inch forged alloy wheels, and the latest iteration of Aston Martin's famous wings insignia is proudly displayed on the car's exterior.
The DB12's opulent cabin complements its improved aerodynamics, speed, and entry system, as well as its frameless wing mirrors.
According to Marek Reichman, Aston Martin's Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer, the DB12 is a "Super Tourer" because it combines performance and design elements like as handling, dynamics, powertrain, and a feeling of spaciousness. The car has an innate understanding of the driver's needs and gives the optimum combination of velocity, effectiveness, and command.
The DB12 is a major step forward for Aston Martin, with a refreshed appearance that projects greater authority and a contemporary, backdrop-less cabin that has an innovative infotainment system. With Q by Aston Martin, consumers may tailor every aspect of their DB12 to their tastes, from subtle aesthetic tweaks to whole unique systems.
The DB12 has a modern and comfortable interior, with a cockpit that puts the driver at the centre and a high standard of workmanship. High-quality leather or Alcantara is used to upholster the benches, making them suitable for long journeys. The infotainment system is Aston Martin's first in-house creation, and it has a fully integrated multi-screen display operated by touchscreen controls.
It has both digital and analogue controls in addition to wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The navigation system has live traffic updates, 3D mapping, and internet access. The company has also developed a companion app with functions like car monitoring, navigation help, and social networking for Aston Martin owners. Even if the car is resold as used, the customer still has access to their three years of free connected car subscription packages.
Initial sales are anticipated to begin in the third quarter of 2023.
