BLACK BAY 58
The Black Bay 58 is a new addition to TUDOR's Black Bay collection. Its measurements are comparable to those of the brand's original divers' watches.
This model has a new TUDOR manufacturing movement with a diameter of around 50 millimetres.
The Black Bay Fifty-Eight is called after the year the first TUDOR divers' watch waterproof to 200 metres, reference 7924, nicknamed "Big Crown," was released. In line with the proportions of the 1950s, this model's case is 39 millimetres in diameter, among other aesthetic references to this renowned historical timepiece. It is designed well for slender wrists, those who like smaller watches, and, of course, antique fans.
It also comes in a new colorway, which is a minor departure from the aesthetics of the Black Bay collection. Gold accents have been added to the hour markers, hands, and minute track of the black and steel bezel, evoking a period when TUDOR first began producing divers' watches. The winding crown tube is made of satin-brushed steel, a new addition to the Black Bay collection, to complement the case and winding crown, which display the TUDOR rose emblem in relief.
The Manufacture Calibre MT5402
TUDOR introduces a second family of movements in 2018, three years after the debut of its first Manufacture Calibre. Calibre MT5402 shows hour, minute, and second functions and is intended for medium-sized TUDOR timepieces. It has a diameter of 26 mm. The style and polish of the Calibre MT5402 are characteristic of TUDOR Manufacturing Calibres. Its openwork rotor is completely satin-brushed, and its bridges and mainplate have alternating sand-blasted and laser-decorated surfaces. The variable inertia balance is maintained by a durable traversing bridge with a two-point fastening. The Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute certifies it as a chronometer on account of these characteristics and its non-magnetic silicon balancing spring (COSC). A 70-hour battery reserve enables the user to remove the watch on Friday evening and re-wear it on Monday without resetting or winding it.
A "Riveted" Bracelet
The bracelet of the Black Bay Fifty-Eight model was inspired by the folding riveted bands of the 1950s and 1960s TUDOR watches. They were renowned for having visible rivet heads that connected the links and a stepped design. These two attractive aspects are integrated into the bracelet of the Black Bay Fifty-Eight model, which incorporates current production techniques with sturdy links. There are two more styles available: a brown leather strap with a folding clasp and a black fabric strap with a golden ring. Manufactured using the Jacquard technique, a time-honored process developed by a 150-year-old family business in the St. Etienne region of France, this strap is a trademark of TUDOR, which is considered a pioneer in this field.
Black bay Definition
Black Bay Fifty-Eight, like previous models in the Black Bay collection, includes a dial inspired by 1950s TUDOR divers' watches. They feature the brand's signature snowflake hands, which first featured in the brand's 1969 brochure. Its big winding crown and red triangular rotating bezel are distinguishing characteristics of the first generation of 200-meter-waterproof TUDOR divers' timepieces (660 ft).
The Black Bay collection is the product of a sophisticated fusion of classical aesthetics and modern watchmaking. It is not merely a re-release of a classic, but rather pulls together over 60 years of TUDOR divers' watches while being firmly rooted in the present. Although its design is neo-vintage, its production procedures, dependability, sturdiness, and quality of finish adhere to today's more stringent standards.
TUDOR is born to dare
In 2017, TUDOR introduced a new campaign with the trademark "Born To Dare." It represents both the brand's heritage and its current identity. It recounts the exploits of those who have accomplished the remarkable on land, ice, in the air, or underwater while wearing a TUDOR watch. It also relates to the ambition of Hans Wilsdorf, the creator of TUDOR, who created timepieces for the most adventurous lives that could resist the most harsh situations. That is evidence of the unique approach to watchmaking that has made TUDOR what it is today. In the forefront of the watchmaking industry, its innovations have become indispensable standards. The "Born To Dare" ethos of TUDOR is promoted across the globe by ambassadors of the highest calibre whose accomplishments are directly attributable to a daring approach to life.
