The Breitling Manufacture Calibre 01 is a Formidable Improvement For Breitling's Newest Partnerships With Deus Ex Machina and Triumph Motorcycles

At the Wheels & Waves surf-and-motorcycle event in Biarritz, France, Breitling introduced two new intriguing editions to its legendary Top Time collection, making a compelling impact in the process.

The Top Time chronograph, first released in the 1960s as an homage to the era's carefree attitude, has become a symbol of freedom and exploration on the open road, particularly among enthusiasts of vintage motorcycles and automobiles.

Breitling has pushed things to the next level with the release of the excellent Breitling Manufacture Calibre 01. This follows on the heels of successful partnerships with Deus Ex Machina and Triumph Motorcycles.

The Top Time Deus is a gorgeous timepiece designed by Breitling and Australian custom motorbike and surf outfitter Deus Ex Machina, and it is slated to become a permanent part of Breitling's core line after the success of two limited editions.

In contrast to its colourful forerunners, the new model has a black dial with white triple-register subdials and a tachymeter scale. You may accessorise it with a calfskin leather strap in black with a racing motif or a metal bracelet with openings. Although the watch is mostly black, it has a striking red outer dial and central chrono hand that is reminiscent of the lightning bolt design used on prior Top Time Deus watches.

An open sapphire caseback with a red Deus logo in the middle reveals the magnificent Breitling Manufacture Calibre 01 movement within.

Breitling and Triumph, a prestigious British motorcycle manufacturer with a rich history, began working together in 2022. The companies first collaborated on the introduction of a special edition Breitling Speed Twin motorbike and two Top Time Triumph timepieces. Motorcycle owners may purchase one of the timepieces (one of just 270 produced) while fans of both brands could purchase the other.

Both timepieces were outfitted with rare 1970s Breitling Top Time Ref. 815 blue dials and one-of-a-kind ice-blue dials from a 1951 Triumph Thunderbird 6T. Breitling's Top Time Triumph underwent a major facelift this year, solidifying its place as a flagship model. The watch's upgraded movement, the Breitling Manufacture Calibre 01, is on full display via the transparent caseback. The dial has a tachymeter scale, the Breitling and Triumph trademarks, and a dual-register display at 12 and 6 o'clock.

You may accessorise its cool blue hue with either a calfskin leather strap with a racing motif or a metal mesh bracelet.

The retro logo, mushroom chronograph pushers, and understated incorporation of the 1960s' renowned bowtie design are just a few of the historical touches that collectors will love in these models. The metal brushing method used to create the bowtie pattern is only visible under certain lighting circumstances, giving the design an air of yesteryear.

The outstanding value of these watches is due in large part to the inclusion of the Breitling Manufacture Calibre 01. This flagship manufacturing calibre debuted in 2009 after being built from the ground up using knowledge gained over the course of a century of watchmaking. Its practicality and beauty have made it the standard by which all other chronograph movements are judged. The Calibre 01's precision and reliability come from its column-wheel mechanism and vertical clutch, both of which are standard on high-end mechanical chronograph movements. With a power reserve of over 70 hours, it outlasts even the best non-manufacture movements, which usually only last between 38 and 48 hours. The modular construction makes it simple to disassemble just the parts that need to be worked on, making it ideal for cleaning and maintenance.

Unlike its regular 2-year guarantee for non-manufacturing movements, Breitling's 5-year warranty for manufacture calibres shows how confident it is in the quality of its products. It takes 10 months of manufacture and 1,000 testing for these calibres to gain COSC certification for accuracy. In addition, Breitling puts their factory movements through a rigorous 16-year accelerated ageing equivalency test, which includes shock testing, crown testing, winding of the oscillating weight, and chronograph-push testing.

A Breitling watch may only leave the Chronometrie if it passes all of these tests.
Incorporating the Breitling Calibre 01 into the Top Time line, Breitling CEO Georges Kern highlighted the company's dedication to in-house workmanship and expertise. He said that this is only the beginning of Breitling Chronometrie's intriguing new advancements.
