Dubbed "The Everyday Exceptional" by the Italian luxury car company, Maserati's new Grecale SUV the all-new sport utility vehicle is awesome to say the least.
The new Maserati Grecale is the second SUV in Maserati's worldwide SUV lineup, after the Levante. The Grecale is capable of running on pure ICE (internal combustion engine), hybrid, or all-electric powertrains. It will be Maserati's first all-electric SUV.
Maserati Grecale is designed in accordance with the Trident brand's new design philosophy and shares styling influences with the Levante SUV and MC20 super sports vehicle. Its front end is defined by a low, intimidating grille. The SUV's sloping roofline lends it a coupe-like appearance, while the rear has boomerang-shaped taillights inspired by the Giugiaro 3200 GT.
The Appropriate Balance
Grecale achieves the ideal blend of adaptability, elegance, performance, and innovation, while simultaneously ensuring performance, comfort, and safety. These characteristics are paired with unmatched off-road capability and driving enjoyment.
The new SUV was developed in Maserati's Innovation Lab in Modena and is manufactured at the Cassino facility.
Grecale is a collection inside a collection, the Trident brand's most comprehensive collection to date.
Grecale is offered with a broad variety of engines: traditional internal combustion, hybrid, and, in less than a year, Grecale will become Maserati's first fully electric SUV.
Three incredible renditions
At launch, three versions will be available: GT, powered by a four-cylinder mild hybrid engine producing 300 horsepower; Modena, powered by a four-cylinder mild hybrid engine producing 330 horsepower; and the powerful Trofeo, powered by a high-performance 3.0L 530 horsepower petrol V6 based on the Nettuno engine found in the MC20. At launch, the Grecale is also available as a limited-edition PrimaSerie Launch Edition with unique features.
The range is completed with the Grecale Folgore, a fully electric vehicle powered by 400V technology.
Outstanding Characteristics
The new Grecale SUV is large and comfortable, with an outstanding list of "best-in-class" amenities. It is the class leader in terms of interior spaciousness, driveability, handling, acceleration (0-62 mph in 3.8 seconds – on the Trofeo), highest speed (177 mph – on the Trofeo), sound quality, and extensive use of premium materials like as wood, carbon fibre, and leather.
Significant Factors
Grecale's measurements are critical: in GT form, it measures 4,846 mm in length, 2,901 mm in wheelbase, 1,670 mm in height, 2,163 mm in width (with wing mirrors), and 1,948 mm in rear tyre track (and even greater in the Trofeo).
Accepting the New
Grecale's design incorporates Maserati's new visual insignia, which has been used to designate each new model since the MC20. The front end is defined by a low, intimidating grille. The profile is renowned for its juxtaposition of purity and expertise, with a very flowing body characterised by meandering aesthetic shapes and technical components accentuated by the use of carbon fibre. At the back, the boomerang taillights are inspired by the Giugiaro 3200 GT and complement the trapezoidal line, which is enhanced by the coupé look of the cabin and its sports car-like finish.
Extraordinary Aesthetics
Inside, the interior has a typical Maserati clockface. For the first time in its history, it becomes a true in-car concierge, courtesy of voice control. Everything becomes touch-based, with an extraordinary degree of aesthetic purity. The technology is managed through the displays: a 12.3-inch centre display, the biggest ever seen in a Maserati, an 8.8-inch display for the additional controls, and a third for the back seat occupants.
Premium Experimentation
The Maserati Intelligent Assistant (MIA) Multimedia system, the state-of-the-art entertainment system, and Maserati Connect all control the in-car experience.
The in-car audio system is pushed to its utmost boundaries of pleasure by an all-around sound experience facilitated by the characteristic Maserati roar and the immersive Sonus faber 3D sound system. The Sonus faber system comes equipped with 14 speakers at the Premium level, and may be upgraded to 21 speakers at the High Premium level.
Comfort & Class
Each journey is transformed into an unforgettable adventure that combines dynamic comfort and an unforgettable driving experience. This is made possible by the exceptional handling provided by the new, 100% Maserati Vehicle Dynamic Control Module (VDCM) system and the 360° control it provides over the car. Complete control translates into a noticeable contrast between the DRIVE MODES: COMFORT, GT, SPORT, CORSA (Trofeo only), and OFF-ROAD.
The Grand Premiere of Grecale
For the Global Premiere of Grecale – a special digital event on the brand's website (houseof.maserati.com) – Matilda De Angelis and Alessandro Borghi – Brand Ambassadors and internationally renowned Italian actors – were chosen to embody and explain how the new model represents the everyday exceptional. Dardust, an Italian musician, was also in attendance, providing a unique background track for a portion of the digital event.
The engineers at Maserati's Modena Innovation Lab collaborated directly with Dardust to create the in-car sound.
A collaborative effort between technology and sound design has resulted in the ability to modify the "chimes" - the audible warnings received by the user as part of the unique driving experience onboard Grecale.
