The Lanesborough hotel in London has announced the launch of its newest afternoon tea, inspired by Bridgerton, which was made in collaboration with Netflix and Shondaland. The high tea is comprised of a variety of scrumptious sweet and savoury treats.
Bridgerton is set in Regency-era England and follows eight close-knit siblings of the affluent Bridgerton family as they seek love.
The Lanesborough's Bridgerton Afternoon Tea, which launches on 25 March, will be served in the hotel's magnificent dining room, which has a domed glass ceiling.Kevin Miller, The Lanesborough's Head Pastry Chef, has lovingly crafted the afternoon tea menu that bears tribute to the Regency period.
Miller's tailored cake
Coronation chicken, fresh coriander, Clarence court egg mayonnaise, wholegrain mustard, smoked salmon, horseradish, watercress, organic cucumber, natural yoghurt, and mint, and rare roast beef slider, black pepper mayonnaise, onion seed. Miller's tailored cake and sweet treat idea will comprise five unique highlights to complement savoury flavours and The Lanesborough's exquisite scones, cream, and jam.
The Queen's Diamond
The Queen's Gem is a beautiful hand-crafted chocolate infused with honey, green cardamon, and white chocolate ganache. Presented in a jewel-toned ring box, it pays homage to Edwina Sharma, this season's diamond.
The Rake
The Rake is a distinguished cake named for Viscount Anthony. A dapper white shirt is encased in a clean fitted suit with a handsome cream cravat, while the exquisite cake is a chocolate sable filled with milk chocolate mousse and bursting with whipped passionfruit curd. It is completed with a dark chocolate glaze, a chocolate shard collar, and a Chantilly cravat of whipped passionfruit cream.
Sponge cake with a twist
A British classic inspired by the magnificent Queen Charlotte, A True Love Match is an elegant, generous tiered Charlotte sponge cake made with a delectable light vanilla sponge, covered with strawberry jam and vanilla twisted cream according to the seasons.
The quill cake
A homage to Bridgerton's most famous resident, The Lady Whistledown cake is shaped like her ink jug and quill. Inside, a financier and pistachio mousse are enrobed in milk chocolate and cocoa butter.
Bursting with Love
All is Fair in Love and War is the star of the show, perched on the cake stand. It is light blue in colour and stamped with a bee - the Bridgerton family's insignia. This delicacy is a rosewater cheesecake with a burst of raspberry jam in the centre, above a crumble crunch base coated with sprayed-blue white chocolate.
Pall Mall
Along with the afternoon tea, guests may savour The Pall Mall Cocktail, which was designed by Mickael Perron, Head of Bars at The Lanesborough. The Pall Mall drink, inspired by the original Regency Gin Punch, was an integral element of daily social life throughout the Regency era. Mickael Perron, Head of Bars at The Lanesborough, has produced a delightful cocktail mix using Hendrick's gin and Graham Blend No5 white port, which is balanced with citrus and mild sweetness. The beverage is served in an exquisite high glass teacup beside a tea strainer packed with dried hibiscus flowers to impart a pinkish hue to the drink. Finally, the drink is finished with a floating lotus flower arrangement — India's national flower – as an homage to the Sharma family. Pall Mall is also available in a non-alcoholic variant.
Afternoon tea at The Lanesborough's Bridgerton begins at £65 per person.
