An Ode to The Library - Montblanc
Recently, the German luxury goods giant Montblanc unveiled a new advertising campaign that highlights the library's inspiring significance. The Library Spirit graphic campaign reminds us that words have the ability to mould new ideas and inspire creativity.
The Library Spirit is an invitation into the realm of the library, where we may be inspired, and Montblanc items can be a part of this journey of in-depth exploration. Photographed by acclaimed photographer Mariano Vivanco, the visual ad features British actor Callum Turner and models Kit Butler, Justice Joslin, and Mattia Narducci exploring the book-filled shelves. Callum reflects on the findings he makes on this excursion as he writes in his notebook using a Montblanc pen.
"Libraries are places of information, intimacy, and emotion, where texts may be discovered for all eternity and reveal the force of their author's imagination throughout time. It is a place that is so genuine to Montblanc, a Maison that has always championed the power of language and the manner in which words define our collective cultural identity."Marco Tomasetta, Artistic Director, Montblanc
The Library Spirit campaign highlights a collection of Montblanc items designed to accompany any traveller on his or her quest for inspiration.
The Montblanc Sartorial series focuses on the aesthetics and sensation of handwriting. The triangular shape of the handles was inspired by recognisable ink bottles from the Montblanc library, while the structure of the bag's sides is reminiscent of an envelope's flap.
A modularity system enables tiny components to be added to bigger packs.
The Meisterstück Great Masters Calligraphy Precious Resin 149, with its curved nib, is suitable for intricate writing and drawing. The Montblanc 1858 Iced Sea watch has a dial with a unique glacial motif.
About Montblanc
The history of Montblanc started in 1906, when a Berlin designer called August Eberstein and a Hamburg financier named Alfred Nehemias invented a series of easy-to-use fountain pens. The design of the simplicissimus pen incorporates an integrated ink well. Subsequently Wilhelm Dziambor, Christian Lausen, and Claus Johannes Voss acquired the company's control and put it on the path to become a global luxury brand.
Montblanc was then acquired by Alfred Dunhill Ltd in 1977, and it is now owned by the South African Rupert family as part of the Richemont group.
