The Rolling Stones Automaton by Jaquet Droz is an Ode to Music

Jaquet Droz unveiled the first of 23 distinct timepieces devoted to the Rolling Stones universe. The Rolling Stones Automaton is a one-of-a-kind, high-end clock outfitted with one-of-a-kind, programmable automatons. The ultimate collector's item, it has incalculable sentimental worth, such as a Mick Jagger signature or a drink shared with Ronnie Wood.

“For anyone born after 1963, there is the Sun, the Moon. And the Rolling Stones”.

Keith Richards was on the mark.

As the adage goes, the heartbeat guitarist of the "greatest Rock'n'Roll band of all time" properly captures the enormity of the Stones phenomenon: worldwide and everlasting. In addition to reputation and longevity, Jaquet Droz has a solid grasp of music. And similar to the Rolling Stones, Jaquet Droz has a history of traversing the globe.

Jaquet Droz, founded in 1738, was the first watchmaker to demonstrate his inventions to the monarchs and emperors of Europe and East Asia.

The crucial ingredient is not the Rolling Stones nor Jaquet Droz, but rather the fan, collector, or devotee who brings them both to life. The new approach of Jaquet Droz is devoted to this individual with the construction of one-of-a-kind, extremely high-end clocks that are animated by one-of-a-kind, customisable automatons. Such as Mick Jagger's signature or a drink shared with Ronnie Wood, the ultimate collector's item is private, personal, and loaded with incalculable emotional worth.

This clock, The Rolling Stones Automaton, survives today. In a 43 mm red gold casing, Jaquet Droz artisans meticulously replicated the Stones stage set by hand. We can locate Ronnie Wood's Fender Strat and double stack, the minimalist drums of the late Charlie Watts, and Keith Richard's renowned five-string guitar, which has etched some of rock & roll's most iconic rhythms.

These legendary grooves are also represented by six famous albums from 1971 to the present, each with its original cover. Each collector will have the ability to choose the album covers. They will be recreated by hand by Jaquet Droz artisans on a disc that may move around the centre stage on demand. The rotation lasts around thirty seconds and may be performed eight times in succession using the push-piece located at 3 o'clock on the crown. In addition, the power reserve is displayed at eight o'clock by a cam that restores the articulated arm and diamond of a record player. Just under the tongue, the recognisable Stones logo slides up and down as the tongue moves concurrently left and right.

Jaquet Droz, true to its heritage, has lavished this animated tableau with a wealth of inventiveness. The guitars and their amplifier are carved by hand from a block of red gold, which is then etched and painted. To mimic the exact curvature, the cymbals are crafted from a slightly curved gold disc. Their position is indicated by a thread of white gold. Also constructed of white and red gold threads, the numerous drum toms have a diameter between 1.2 and 2.3 mm.

The precise colour tone of each instrument, the tweed finish of the amplifier, the pickguard of the guitars, and the tolex of the loudspeakers are hand-painted, as are every minute detail and unnoticeable reflection. Even Mick Jagger's harp is replicated in a chunk of gold measuring no more than a couple 1/10 millimetres close to his microphone. On the sapphire caseback, the red gold oscillating weight will be engraved with the name of the album chosen by the collector from the 23 available to illustrate the image under the central stage – along with the album's release date and the studio where it was recorded, resulting in a one-of-a-kind piece engraved "1/1."
