The year 2022 was a remarkable edition, as two of the world's most spectacular boating events merged to create the world's biggest boat and yacht show. The Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show included a diverse array of watercraft, from kayaks to superyachts and the most cutting-edge aquatic technology.
The Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show took place From 16 February to 20 February 2022.
The performance took place across Downtown and Miami Beach. The Miami Beach Convention Center featured boats up to 15 metres in length, while the IGY Yacht Haven Grande in Island Garden displayed opulent superyachts. The Museum Park Marina was the greatest location to find a catamaran. Other on-water locations were the Sea Isle Marina and One Herald Plaza, which held sea trials, tenders, and motorboats. At the Pride Park, activities such as creative meals, exploration of experience boating lifestyle activations, and educational lectures were presented.
Some of the jaw droppingly gorgeous boats on display included the following:
60 Jeanneau Yachts
The Classic and Cruiser variants of the Jeanneau Yachts 60 made their international debuts at the Cannes Yachting Festival last year. The former is more geared toward racing and is equipped with a retractable good and helm bimini. It is more streamlined, with no aft bench or external gallery.
The Cruiser variant has a hardtop with an electrically adjustable canvas sunroof. The arch and hood are made of Lexan, which provides excellent forward vision due to the presence of a transparent glass.
62-foot Beneteau Grand Trawler
The Grand Trawler 62, the brand's latest flagship, is built for extended trips of over 1,000 nautical miles. This is the result of over two decades of work since the Swift Trawler series was launched in 2003. The new Grand Trawler 62 is 62 feet in length, a significant increase in size above the brand's earlier trawler-style boats.
Apart from the increased range, the Grand Trawler 62's storage has been modified to allow for longer stays aboard. Additionally, the yacht has a spacious outside flybridge of 365 square feet, one of the biggest in its class, which can be accessed either from the starboard side of the cockpit or internally from behind the helm.
6X Pershing
The new model is intended to reach a high speed of 48 knots and a cruising speed of 42 knots, and is powered by a pair of MAN V12 engines producing 1,550hp each. Additionally, the Pershing 6X is the second-smallest model in the Generation X lineup, standing at 62 feet. Its appearance boasts a vast number of glass areas in the hull, which enable natural light to reach the lower deck.
The style of the large aft sunpad, the carbon and teak cockpit table, the chaise longue with reclining backrest positioned forward, and rectangular portholes that resemble windows are all new elements. The helm station is undoubtedly the yacht's most striking element, with a console including two 19-inch displays, carbon-fibre control panels, and an electro-hydraulic steering system all concealed behind a wide, opening skylight.
Fly Absolute 60
The Absolute 60 Fly will make a return appearance at the Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show this year, after its global debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival. One of the boat's attractions is the opportunity to add solar panels on the yacht's hardtop. These panels have a maximum output of 1.5kW, which is adequate to power the yacht's refrigerator, water heater, and entertainment system. The Garmin monitor displays allow for tracking of energy use.
The brand is well-known for lines that maximise volume, and the 60 Fly is no exception. Its beach platform is more than 2m long and 5m broad, providing enough room for sunbathing on lounge chairs and serving as a launching pad for tenders and toys.
Molokai Aquila 28
The Aquila 28 Molokai, which is part of the brand's Offshore series, is the brand's smallest catamaran. The line compliments the brand's Sports and flagship Yacht series. The Aquila 28 Molokai is inspired by indigenous Hawaiian watercrafts that have been engineered to withstand the rigours of island hopping. It is the perfect vehicle for enthusiasts seeking a sturdy, efficient, safe, and enjoyable boating experience.
Leopard Powercat 53
Leopard's fourth-generation 53 Powercat is a development of the brand's legendary 51 Powercat. The new model has been engineered to take use of the smart and economical benefits of a catamaran, resulting in a 50% fuel efficiency improvement over existing monohull motoryachts.
The 53 Powercat's design highlights include the hardtop flybridge, which has a helm station to starboard and expansive sitting places for entertaining. Additionally, the owner may stand and take in the panoramic view of his or her surroundings. There is a choice of three or four cabin layouts, as well as the possibility of separate crew quarters. The 53 Powercat is capable of speeds of up to 25 knots.
X60 Prestige
The Prestige X60, which measures 61 feet, has a similar stern to the X70 and is equipped with a drop-down lounge on its long swim platform. As with the larger X70, the X60's cockpits are enclosed, and owners may choose between an island sunpad and a dining table. The new model has a hallway to the port and an open saloon on both sides — sliding doors on the aft and aft port sides, respectively.
On the interior, there are facing couches and a staircase to the master bedroom on the port side, while ahead is an open, full-beam kitchen, the helm to the starboard, steps to the guest rooms, and a raised L-shaped sofa in the port corner. The flybridge has sun loungers and an island sunpad, as well as a central dining table and wet bar. The X60 is 30% bigger than a standard 60-footer and has a cruising speed of 20-21 knots.
Predator 65 Sunseeker
The Sunseeker Predator 65 was scheduled to make its international debut at the Boot Düsseldorf in January 2022, but the event was postponed. Rather than that, the model made its global debut at the Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show. The 65-foot yacht's appearance is aerodynamic, with tinted windows, teak, carbon fibre, and polished stainless steel. There are two engine options: the Volvo IPS-1200 or the IPS-1350, the latter of which has a peak speed of 35 knots.Additionally, its extra-wide tender garage enables for the carriage and launch of a William Sportjet 345 tender via a diagonal sliding hydraulic bathing platform. Six people may be housed in the yacht's three staterooms, each of which is en-suite with a bathroom.
