The Tonda PF Sport by Parmigiani Fleurier Strikes the Ideal Balance Between Active Lifestyle and Stylish Design

Swiss luxury watchmakers Parmigiani Fleurier has introduced the Tonda PF Sport collection of timepieces for individuals who view sport as a means of recreation, freedom, and personal enjoyment rather than as a competitive endeavour. The new collection consists of two models: the Chronograph and the time-only Automatic. Both are designed to seamlessly transition from the demands of the workweek to the weekend.

The Tonda PF Sport emanates an air of effortless confidence and elegance. It appeals to aesthetes who value the moments of escape that sports provide, where leisure and freedom reign paramount. Rather than focusing on competition and sheer performance, these timepieces have been designed as active-lifestyle companions for everyday use. Whether worn on an exposed wrist or beneath a shirt cuff, they effortlessly complement one's attire, making them versatile and highly wearable.

The Tonda PF Sport Chronograph and Tonda PF Sport Automatic are active counterparts to their Tonda PF brethren. They are available in either steel or 18ct pink gold. These models, with case diameters of 41mm (Automatic) and 42mm (Chronograph), achieve the ideal equilibrium between elegance and functionality.

They are appropriate for any occasion due to their design, which combines sporty and fashionable elements.

While the PF collection and the Tonda PF Sport line share a common ancestry, the Tonda PF Sport line has several distinguishing characteristics that establish its sporty-casual identity. Notably, the knurled bezel of the Tonda PF Sport has 160 incisions, producing a bolder interplay of light and reflection than the 225 incisions on the bezel of the standard Tonda PF collection. The dial features a hand-guilloché 'triangular nail' pattern, an age-old artisanal technique that intensifies the effect of light landing at various angles on the surface. Black SuperLuminova is applied to the affixed hour indicators to ensure optimal legibility.

The Chronograph model employs a 'panda' design, with black sub-dials on a white background, thereby enhancing the legibility of vital information. The textured band is made from Cordura-treated rubber and is seamlessly incorporated into the case to complete the athletic style. In addition, both variants are waterproof to a depth of 100 metres.

In keeping with Parmigiani Fleurier's commitment to discretion, the logo and date window positioning on the Tonda PF Sport timepieces are discrete. The discreet placement of the PF insignia at 12 o'clock is complemented by the placement of the date display at 6 o'clock on the Automatic model and 4:30 on the Chronograph model.

These refined design decisions contribute to the overall sophistication and elegance of the timepieces.

Under the sapphire casebacks of both models are meticulously crafted Parmigiani Fleurier movements. The Tonda PF Sport Chronograph features the Calibre PF070, a high-frequency (5Hz 36,000 vph) manufacture movement with an integrated column wheel chronograph and vertical clutch.

This COSC-certified (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute) movement offers a 65-hour power reserve and guarantees precision. In contrast, the Tonda PF Sport Automatic is equipped with the Calibre PF770. This movement has a frequency of 4Hz (28,800 vph) and a power reserve of 60 hours.

It is powered by a double barrel with a power reserve of 60 hours. As with all Parmigiani Fleurier calibres, these movements are designed, manufactured, and assembled in the Maison's ateliers. Bevelled margins and Côtes de Genève embellishment are examples of the brand's dedication to craftsmanship. In addition, the 22-carat pink gold skeletonized winding rotor adds a touch of luxury to the movements.

The rose gold version of the Tonda PF Sport Chronograph is priced at $50,200, while the stainless steel version is available for $29,000. The Automatic edition (rose gold) costs $38,200 USD, while the stainless steel model is available for $21,300 USD.
