The Topmost Luxury Watch Brands in The World

An accessory that is timeless in its look and value. A watch is something that can elevate your outfit to a whole other level. There is no look which a smart, classy, and beautiful watch cannot accompany. Be a casual lunch with your friend, date night, or even someone’s wedding. Today, the monetary value of a luxury watch is insanely high not only because of what it signifies but also due to the fine detailing and sophisticated working that goes into making it. Despite its price, a good luxury watch is an investment worth considering. The combination of craftsmanship and the stylish aesthetic have made luxury watches a league of their own.

To make decisions a little easier for you, we have got a list of brands that will blow your minds.

1.  Patek Philippe

The Swiss aren’t just known for their cheese and chocolates. Founded back in 1839, Patek Philippe & Co. is one of the oldest and finest watch manufacturers in the world. They have been known to create some of the most complicated mechanical watches. Some of the people who have admired and worn their work include Queen Victoria, Marie Curie, John F.Kennedy, Queen Elizabeth II, and even Albert Einstein. In 1916, they produced the very first complicated ladies wrist watch. They crossed the 150 years mark in 1989 by launching the Calibre 89 with 33 complications. Today they have over 400 retail stores all across the world and even a Patek Philippe museum in its hometown, Geneva. In 2019, seven Patek Philippe watches were amongst the Top 10 most expensive watches ever sold at auctions.

2. Chopard

Another Swiss delicacy, Chopard, is known for making high quality and aesthetically appealing watches and jewellery. The company was founded by Louis-Ulysse Chopard, who was a watchmaker near Bern, back in the latter half of the 19th century. It became extremely popular for its pocket watches and ladies wristwatches. In 1963, the company was bought by Karl Scheufele III, a  German goldsmith and watchmaker. Today, Chopard’s signature watch look includes a free-floating diamond behind a sapphire glass which was created in 1974. Tsar Nicholas II of Russia is known to one of its more famous customers.

3. Cartier

One of the most iconic brands, Cartier is a French luxury conglomerate best known for designing and manufacture watches and jewellery. Since its inception 1847 by the Frenchman Louis-François Cartier, it remains one of the most prestigious manufacturers with a long history of sales to royalty. Cartier has been called the "the jeweller of kings and the king of jewellers”, by King Edward VII of Great Britain. ‘The panther’ had its debut in 1914 and has become an emblematic animal of the Maison’s menagerie since then and has inspired many of its designs.

4. Rolex

No luxury watch list would be complete without Rolex being a part of it. Probably one of the most recognised and sought after watch brands in the world, Rolex was originally founded by two gentlemen in London, but after the first World War moved their base to Switzerland. However, its British origins are still very much represented through its designs. Forbes has ranked Rolex as the 71st most valuable brand in the world and is one of the Top 10 most expensive watches ever sold at an auction, as of June 2019. Even today, Rolex holds the record for the most certified chronometer movements in the category of wristwatches and makes nearly 2,000 watches per day.

5. Ulysse Nardin

Another Swiss wonder, Ulysse Nardin became known for manufacturing highly accurate marine chronometers and complicated timepieces which was used by over fifty of the world’s navies. By 1983, it was completely transformed into a brand made for luxurious people. It is known for its distinctive materials and unique leathers. Their belief is that only by attempting the impossible can one achieve the impossible.

6. Louis Moinet

Watches wouldn’t have same unique mechanism had it not been for Louis Moinet, who invented chronography. Jean-Marie Schaller, revived his prestigious name and brand by started an independent luxury brand in Switzerland in order to carry on his legacy. They pride themselves on incorporating exotic material-such as lunar and fossilised palm tree- and technology, which is underpinned by the philosophy of limited edition mechanical art.

If you want to get a head start on your luxury watch collection, look no further than the brands mentioned above. Each brand comes with its set of unique timepieces that sets it apart from the rest. From wanting a classic look, to diamond dials, to dials which take chronography to a whole other level, your options are endless.
