London – To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the James Bond film series, Christie's and EON Productions will host a two-part charity auction including a total of 60 pieces in September 2022. Only invited bidders may attend the live auction on September 28; however, fans and collectors from across the globe may participate by bidding online via Christie's LiveTM, by telephone, or by submitting an absentee bid. The live auction will include 25 pieces, including automobiles, watches, costumes, and props from the 25th film No Time To Die, with the remaining six lots honouring each of the six James Bonds. The online auction will be up for bidding from 15 September to James Bond Day on 5 October, with 35 pieces including posters, props, costumes, memorabilia, and experiences from all twenty-five films.
As with the previous three official Christie's 007 auctions, the profits from this sale will be donated to charity organisations. Please refer to the Notes to Editors for a complete list of all 45 charities, and to the appendix in the drop box for information on each organisation. The pre-sale highlights display will be open to the public from September 15 to September 28 at Christie's offices, 8 King Street, London; admission is free. Online pre-orders are available for limited edition printed catalogues at christies.com/james-bond.
The Earl of Snowdon, Honorary Chairman of Christie's EMEA, said, "One of my earliest childhood recollections is playing compulsively with a diecast Aston Martin DB5, a present my parents brought home from the Goldfinger premiere. From that point on, I was captivated by each new James Bond film, its amazing effects and stunts, Bond's watches, and his great sense of style. I even had the privilege of riding to school in my father's DB5. Bond, the British icon, has had a significant impact on my life. Christie's is proud to once again join with EON Productions to deliver this two-part official charity auction commemorating the 60th anniversary of James Bond. The spectacular historic live and online auctions will hopefully collect record amounts for all the selected excellent charity charities."
