Traditional Indian Designer, Anita Dongre Opens its Doors to Hyderabadis

Luxury Indianwear designer just launched her first flagship store in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. This festive season, all Hyderabadis can now enjoy s special treat and light up the festive atmosphere more. This store has various sub-brands such as sustainable luxury brand Grassroot, Anita Dongre bridal couture and menswear, Anita Dongre ready-to-wear, as well as Anita Dongre silver jewellery and Anita Dongre Pinkcity all under one breathtaking roof.

The store is a three-storeyed building, spanning across 4000 square feet. The interior of this picturesque store is inspired by the Rajsthani culture which is rich for its heritage and colours, just like the inspiration behind the designer’s clothes. All the sections are very neatly curated to give the customer a holistic experience. You’ll find yourself wafting across the store for the dreamy rose fragrance that binds the experience of shopping at Anita Dongre.

The colour palette of the ground floor matches the aroma with a soothing neutral palette of beige and blush pink inspired by the palaces of Jaipur.  You’ll also find the shelves filled with soothing water feature frame stories of artisans who make these fashion favourites by hand. Inspired by the Rajasthani architecture, you’ll come across arches that frame richly embroidered lehengas, and the blue walls of the Jaipur city palace.

You’ll find yourself running to the store for all your traditional needs as it stores a stunning collection of pocket squares, kurtas, bandis, and sherwanis for men; and lehengas, sarees, printed kaftans, and dresses for women; along with a curation of Anita Dongre silver jewellery and Anita Dongre Pinkcity.

Anita Dongre manages to bring life to art in her clothes as she designs them. You’ll get awed by the breadth and intricacy of Indian craftsmanship. Rich gota patti, intricate embroideries and meticulous handwoven fabrics find a place alongside inlaid floors, pichwai paintings, thikri mirror work and metalwork. Stone carvings, handmade rugs, antique lighting and furniture pieces provide little corners to unwind and discuss life’s important decisions as you’re making them.

The designer feels each store is special to her but this particular store is more special as it is an ode to craftsmanship in a year that has been particularly hard on Indian craftspeople due to Covid. There couldn’t be a better city than Hyderabad with its rich craft culture to create this space in.
