August 19, 2022, Sant'Agata Bolognese/Carmel-By-The-Sea At The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, Automobili Lamborghini introduced the world to the brand new Urus Performante, setting a new standard for the 'fun to drive' performance of a Super SUV. The Urus Performante, the latest and most technologically sophisticated iteration of the Super SUV model, has beaten the 2018 Bentley Bentayga to become the quickest production SUV to reach the top of Pikes Peak in a time of 10 minutes, 32 seconds (10:49.902).
With its extensive use of composite materials, the Urus Performante tops its class as the vehicle with the most carbon fibre components. The lightweight carbon fibre engine hood is standard, while a carbon fibre roof is available as an option. Enhanced engine cooling and a bold statement about this SUV's super sports pedigree are delivered by new, sleeker lines on the carbon fibre bumper and splitter up front. Within the framework of an aerodynamic design theme that reduces drag, a new air curtain pulls airflow over the front wheels, while the air outlet on the new hood contributes to the overall efficiency of the aerodynamics and aids in engine cooling. In back, the Urus Performante has a new spoiler that boosts downforce by 38%. In addition to the typical lightweight titanium Akrapovi sports exhaust, the lower rear bumper and diffuser are constructed from carbon fibre.
Wider carbon fibre wheel arches welcome new optional 23" or forged 22" lightweight wheels with titanium bolts and tyres, while revised steel springs lower the Performante's chassis by 20 mm. As part of the upgrade to the Urus Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R, you'll also get a set of Pirelli P Zero tyres in sizes 285/40 R22 and 325/35 R22.
Nero Cosmus black Alcantara is standard in the cockpit, and a new hexagonal seat stitching style known as the "Performante trim" is available as an upgrade. A leather interior is also available as an option. Extending the Performante trim to the doors, roof-lining, seat backrests, and rear wall are just a few of the dedicated colour and trim choices available. The inside may be further personalised with matt carbon fibre elements, red door handles, and a kickplate branded with the Ad Personam emblem. All of the inside aluminium trim is black anodized, and the black Alcantara/leather steering wheel has matching black anodized stitching.
The Urus Performante has class-leading longitudinal skills, such as a peak speed of 306 kilometres per hour and acceleration from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in only 3.3 seconds. Its stopping distance from 100 kilometres per hour to a stop is just 32.9 metres. As a result of the enhancements to aerodynamic efficiency, downforce has increased by 8%. A new differential improves torque distribution, increasing the ratio from 3.16 to 3.4 under normal driving situations and from 3.02 to 3.33 while coasting.
Some LM 002s owned by American collectors were on display as a nod to Lamborghini's groundbreaking design for the first super SUV and as an example of the cars that paved the path for modern off-roaders. The Urus rethought the Lamborghini product line and the company's future in the same way as the LM 002, which debuted at the Geneva Auto Show four decades ago.
