Established by Nokia in the year 1998, luxury mobile phone brand Vertu tried unsuccessfully to gain even footing in the luxury market with its expensive, handmade phones. Now, the brand is all set to launch one of its newest creations in 2021.
A group of former Vertu employees who expressed their wish to bring the company back into the luxury market are doing so, this time under the brand name of ‘Xor’. The co-founder and head designer for Xor also worked at a similar post for Vertu, and a lot of Vertu’s old customers actually funded the establishment of Xor. The first handset to be released by the brand is called Xor Titanium, which is to priced at around $3900.
As the name suggests, the chassis of the phone is made of titanium, and instead of coming with an array of the most advanced features and specifications, this phone actually is a homage to the old-school mobile phone. It comes with a leatherback, a T9 keypad, and offers 2G/3G voice calling with active noise cancellation, a 5-day battery life, SMS service, wireless charging and an air quality sensor. However, the Xor Titanium shows tremendous finesse on the security front. It will offer end-to-end encryption for its hardware users and provisions for different ringtones for calls that are encrypted and those that are not. Apart from this, all Xor Titanium headsets will come with a remote secret key that will enable users to delete data remotely.
